Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

And boy do they know how to let us know when they are hungry!!!! :D xx

did a lot of reading up on thrush and pretty convinced that's what's going on here- yes- they have white spots. and act colicky and just plain uncomfortable. I'm in downright agony when they nurse and after- got the full regiment of home cures and a call in to the Dr for a script for nistatin. Thanks for the advice ladies :hugs: I actually feel loads better just knowing what's up!

crap, lol.. I don't have time to keep up with this thread either :dohh: I don't know how you other moms are doing it!! I barely have time to eat! Seriously.. what's your secret!?

lisa- i didn't eat until my hubby came home and fed me- and i've needed to pump for about two hours now...
BnB is something i can do one handed while consoling a baby (what i've done all day in singles or pairs!)
maybe toomorrow i'll get to shower?

I get around the bathing problem by having baths with Leo he loves it :haha:

Inge- the size of our apartment tub vs the size of current me isn't a very pretty ratio  and that's if I even could get in and out of the tub with my back and pelvis in it's current state, which I highly doubt!
I have some time RIGHT NOW- at 12:45AM, they are both asleep- and not due to eat for 30 minutes- however, hubby is sleeping the first shift and there's no one to watch out for them. I thought about trying to sleep now- but I don't think I'd wake up when it's feeding time- so, am pumping and back on BnB :)

heyy- Be careful with Nystatin. It's not as effective as other thrush medications. Isaiah and I battled thrush for 4 months and had multiple rounds of Nystatin and it had no effect on him. It eventually went away on its own, but studies are now showing that Nystatin isn't very effective.

I didnt know that about nystatin, always worked for me,maybe a lot of people are getting resistant to it. There are other creams that will work though if it doesnt. Heyy you must be in a lot of pain:hugs:

Lisa, er secret?! Ok I keep up with personal hygiene:haha: Hubby and Itake it i turns for a shower in the am, I take the 1 year old and the 3 year old, he takes Eilidh, 6 year old showers herself. I geton here when bfing or when they asleep we're bfing right now lol. When Eilidh feeds Dora goes on the tv if hubby not here so I guess that counts as secret? I dunno really, it just happens, I'm glad hubby helps a lot and my kids have a routine. Exercise helps too, a tired kid is a happy kid!

Said this in the pregnancy thread but saying again cos I'm proud, Eilidh has graduated to newborn clothes!!:happydance:

My son was stood next to me as I typed that last message and is looking at the smilies going "is that eggers?" "make a omelette" Hahahahahahaha

congrats on Eilidh's growth mummy!

I do bnb while pumping, hard to write one handed, but that's my "free time" nowadays.

I'm off to a breastfeeding clinic again this morning. hopefully Travis is still gaining weight and this can be my last clinic.

I'm going to ask about thrush too. I haven't noticed any white spots on either of us but the other symptoms (burning, itchy, painful) seems to fit. anyone had thrush w/o the white spots?

Mummy - thats brilliant!!!! Aww she is getting so big now!!!

I just got a brilliant phone call, Dylan has been accepted for nursery!!!!! We had a choice of him starting in october or January, but as he wouldn't be funded from october we chose January, it's the best nursery in the area, we could never afford to send him there ourselves. My baby boy is getting so grown up

Soph, the white spots will only appear on the baby, not on Mom. Thrush takes time to develop, according to my midwife and is more likely with cracked and sore nipples. I asked her about it because my nipples felt the same way, but there was no evidence of thrush in Anberlin, and the midwife said it takes time for thrush to develop. It could just be that your nipples are getting used to the "abuse". They'll burn, sting, and have a painful latch until they get used to it, but it doesn't hurt to look into it either.

I breastfed Isaiah for 17 months and went through the same thing, the sore, burning nipples right from the first few days. It wasn't until they cracked at a month old, and a month later, that we got thrush.

If your nipples still feel like they're burning even an hour after nursing, look into a condition called Vasospasm. It's where the blood flow to the nipple will stop temporarily and make it feel like the nipple is burning and sore until the blood flow starts again. I suffer from it too.

Soph, yeah Ive had thrush without baby having it many times. Usually both you and baby get it as it passes back and forth but if you're an experienced bf'er ( I'm at 5 years now all together:wacko:) you can recognise the signs quickly and get treatment, always treat baby at the same time though just in case its there but not developed into the white spots yet. Of course withthis being your first LO it could be a case of adjustment which will take time for your nipples to get used to the abuse! Have you had pain the whole time or just recently? Also the cracks can be microscopic so you may not notice them.

Wiggler, how come you only get funding from january? My son goes on a tuesday and thursday and the difference in him is astounding,Dylan is going to have a great time:happydance: How are you finding the bfing hun? How long you thinking of aiming for?:flower:

I just walked about a mile in the most painful shoes ever to go get shampoo:dohh: Stupid feet are seriously blistered now!

Brandi, hows your clog this morning, hope it didnt come back?!:hugs:

Inge, meow, how are you guys doing today?

I seem to be fine all day, get to the evening and crumble and the tears start and everything hurts again. :( xx

The clog is nearly gone. There's just a small area that still has it, but it's not painful.

24/7:hugs: Do you get much sleep during the day? You could be more tired of an evening and tiredness always makes things harder:hugs:

Brandi, how did you manage to get it out in the end? Bet you got gallons out of there!

I've had a couple of naps, everything just seems so huge and I feel like I will never feel better. :( I know its just hormones and being silly, but still. xx

Funding is only from the first term starting after they turn 3. I don't mind the longer wait though, the nursery is a long walk and I need that extra time to stregnthen up my poor pelvis.

BF is going well, her latch is getting bad again so working on getting her to open her mouth nice and wide. Ideally I would like to BF for at least a year, fingers crossed I can do it. I still feel shit for giving up so fast after Dylan, but I have one a lot more reading up on it this time.

24/7 - :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Anberlin got it out. I neglected my left breast in favour of latching her onto to the right and she was able to unclog it, for the most part, then I just pumped out the left breast so the clog wouldn't happen there.

24/7, things do get better, and if they dont feel that way now they will soon:hugs:

Wiggler, is the pelvis improving though? Eek at long walk! With the latch, make sure Bethany is awake and alert before putting her on, do you massage her jaw to help her open wider? A year is awesome!

my kids just had cookies for lunch:blush: they did make them themselves tho...
