Okies ladies, please excuse me while I vent, waffle and rant a little lol
I just spoke to my sister a little while ago, she has 5 kids, 4 with her ex hubby and he hasnt seen them in over 4 years (mainly his fault). In those 4 years she has made numerous CSA claims, and every time she does he moves house, or quits his job etc and has basically paid very little for them. Anyways, 2 weeks ago contact is made between him and the eldest child through facebook, and after he spoke to my sister he agreed to a meeting this week. He turned up, and despite a bit of awkwardness apparently wasnt so bad. The youngest 2 dont really remember him, but the eldest 2 have missed him badly so it was quite important. During the meet he mention where he was now living, what he does for work etc, just small talk, only my sister has walked out of the meeting and made another claim to csa with the details. I know bringing up kids is not cheap, I do it on my own and its hard sometimes, but she knows he runs when it comes to money, and now the kids have met him she is risking him doing it again and the kids losing him all over again. I know technically its all his fault, but she knows if he runs she wont get the money, and then no one has won, least the kids stand a chance at a relationship with their dad. Who knows, in a few months once bonds are made, he may willingly offer up the money, or she can talk to him about it and use csa to make it all above aboard. With her its just about the money, and sod who gets hurt in the firing line.
I posted this in single parenting thinking they'd understand my view that the relationship is far more important than the money, but then I read a thread after I posted and dont think they'll see it my way lol They are moaning they only get £5 a week off csa, but they dont think they also get £20 a week CB and £35+ a week in CT plus if dad is paying £5 a week, so should mum so thats £65 a week that child brings in, the CB and CT isnt there to pay for bills, its there to get what ever need for the child, and more than covers nappies, milk, electric etc arghhh rant over! I'd give anything for Joshua to have a relationship with his dad, no amount of money can buy that bond!
