Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

Did the world end then, meant to be about 7am in the UK I believe

Meow, yeah they do cluster feed and on demand, I remember the NICU nurses saying that. How you feeling today?

Wiggler omg at 10mins, thats one hell of a lot of milk you got there! If your neighbours are making the noise to get you in trouble it will backfire on them:thumbup:

New, for me the pumping was a million times worse than having baby on breast with thrush, its defo different for different women but its a big investment if it doesn't work maybe wait the 24 hours and see?

Brandi, when does world end in canada? Hope you're feeling better from the mastitis:hugs:

Inge, dont think I would be without my laptop now:hugs:

My DH Just brought me a bunch of different coloured roses and he's gone out to starbucks now to get me breakfast:cloud9: Kids are all chilling watching spongebob and Eilidhs been feeding for hours lol, she seems to have reflux now and is puking a fair bit:dohh:

Are any of the bfing mums here just exclusively nursing from the breast and planning on selfweaning?:flower:

i heard its supposed to be 6pm everywhere. doesnt make sense as its different times everywhere :shrug:like 6pm in London something happens, 6pm new york....

It's supposed to be 6:00pm EST with a massive worldwide earthquake here. So, by that, it should be in 5 hours and 20 minutes.

Mastitis is much better, but my supply has seriously gone to crap. I can't get more than 2oz out of my left breast and I can't get more than 5oz out of my right. That sucks when I had 23oz. My stash is slowly diminishing. Thankfully, my cracked nipples have healed so I'm nursing like crazy now trying to build it back up. As soon as I'm done my antibiotics, if my supply hasn't come back, I'll be popping the Fenugreek like candy to get it back. I'd start now, but apparently Fenugreek blocks the absorption of antibiotics and I DO NOT want mastitis again...then again, with me being raptured tonight, I guess I never will have it again

I just read up on Rapture, and I have realised there is no way in hell I am getting beamed up to heaven, looks like I am here til Oct 21st to watch the flames and floods

I'm planning on BF until Bethany self weans, I really don't ever want to give her formula, the only time I want her having a bottle is if I express, which I only plan to do for long days out until/if I feel comfy NIP.

 that one positive!

Sorry about your change in supply, you had such an oversupply before maybe you are regulating? Although thats not too helpful when pumping ready to go back to work:hugs: When does your placement start again?

July 1st. Both my midwife and the lactation consultant confirmed that having mastitis decreases your supply, and certain antibiotics, such as ones for mastitis can decrease it even more. Sometimes, mastitis, if not treated early, can permanently decrease your supply or even completely dry you up if it causes too much damage in the breast tissue.

That's why they say to nurse like crazy in an effort to keep your supply up. I was pumping because of the cracked nipples but now I'm latching her since the cracks have healed and if my supply isn't back within a few days of finishing the antibiotics, Fenugreek Candy it is!! I'm not letting this supply go permanently, if I can handle it.

nooo  I have to turn my pink and white pc off now. need to get it ready to move it :haha: time to untangle all the wires:haha:

mummy- I'm feeling better today. Seem to have a good day and then i'll have a really anxious day. Just trying to go with the flow and my mum and DH are being brilliant. Think my iron is going up too as i'm feeling less tired now. Got a blood test on Tuesday so will be interested to see what level my iron is now.

I hate end of the world theories, they scare me

I'm freaking PISSED!!! This whole rapture thing has me scared shitless, so much so that I need a drink. I love my vodka coolers. Just one would help, so I just went to the LCBO to pick up a case (there's 4 in a case) and I get there and the doors are locked and a sign on the door that says all the alcohol has been raptured!!

Seriously?! So 3% of the world's population get to party it up at the pearly gates while we have to stay down here and suffer without coping mechanisms?!

This is going to be a long 5 months.

brandi and mummy thank you so much for the info. My MW came and got him to feed off the sore breast, I wont lie it was painful but she really recommended it over expressing. the thrush meds will kick in within 24-48 hours, i have something called fluxa something which i take 150mg in one dose today and then 50mg twice daily for 14 days. Also some cream for the nipples incase, and some gel stuff for georges mouth just to prevent him getting thrush and passing it on to the other breast. I have also managed another feed this afternoon from the sore side, i had to put myself back in the zone and really focus on the relaxation techniques she gave me but I did it, with only a few tears! lol Im a bit nervous about it being my right breasts turn in the middle of the night though Im not sure if i will be awake enough to relax enough, but I am not giving up only a day or so and I should notice a massive difference, MW is coming to see me tomorrow to make sure I am managing better although it wont be cleared up she wants to make sure Im coping with the feeding.

baby george has been enjoying NIP this weekend lol he had dinner in New Look yesterday, lunch in McDonalds today and a mid afternoon snack in Morrisons today

Oh I feel so much more relaxed and confident I can do it. i didnt buy a pump. I am exclusively BFing :) As for BLW Im not sure, I had planned just to BF for a few weeks, but I enjoy it way more than I thought I would so keen to carry it on longer, but i will introduce foods as and when he needs them, i wont be waiting for 6 months etc (unless he is content) i suppose that is baby led  Joshua had food from 11 weeks, so will take it as it comes.

Lol yeah baby led is when they let you know they're hungry for more. My lot have been all over the place with it, first took solids from about 6 months, my son got given a marshmellow by big sis at 5m  and Anja was rice from 10 weeks (for reflux by doc but dunno if helped much!) Eilidh is extra tiny so bf only for around 8m me thinks but will see if she has other ideas!

New, so glad you're getting there, sounds your mw is very supportive a few days and you'll feel so much better. :happydance: for NIP, sounds like George was testing out the best dinner locations:haha:

Inge:hugs:

Meow, glad you're improving, will be interesting to see what the iron level is on tuesday. These theories are scary, I think thats what this kooks play on:hugs:

Brandi:hugs: why is the alcohol raptured? Lol sucks though:dohh: Ive never taken supplements but hope they work for you. I'm very fortunate that my supply seems to match LO no matter what, no leaking really, couldnt pump much tho as was so well matched. Thankfully all the times I had mastitis didnt alter it so:hugs: for you having to deal with it. Are you looking forward to placement?

Wiggler:hugs: you'll get there with NIP, have you tried a nursing cover? Would probably be easier when your supply regulates, I caan see why leaking a pad in 10m would make for awkward!

I have tried nursing her with a cover on, to practice, she hates it and its even harder than normal to get her to latch on (she likes to fuss and try to eat her hands :haha:) then she likes to pull herself on and off a few times per feed. I think once she calms down with her fussiness I will consider it more, but at the moment NIP comes with a HUGE risk of flashing myself to everyone :haha:

Dylan was on solids just before 6months, ate solids for about 6 weeks then the problems started so really nervous about weaning Bethany, I'm going to leave it as close to 6m as I can, then BLW, I'm pretty babyled anyways so may as well do the weaning too.

I didnt even know the world was ending! :dohh: really must keep in the loop pmsl

Inge you dont need to wait for the TV licence hun if you have applied, and to be honest Im sure they wouldnt chase you up over a matter of days anyways, get your ariel up you'll need something with no internet... or little Jack and Leo might find themselves with another sibling

My breasts dont leak at all, I thought my supply was naff, never knew until the other day that you can produce to the babys demand and have no leakage :)

Meow hope your levels increase hun! I need to get my results I know my HB only came up a fraction in the week between transfusion and delivery, but i dont know what the transfusion has done to the ferritin levels, however I did bleed before, during and after delivery so any increased ferritin should have come down. I must remember to get it checked again though, I inheritted a condition from my dad where by we cant regulate ferritin in the blood so transfusions are a huge no no.... which the hospital realised AFTER giving it me! lol

hows all the kiddies feeling by now mummy? Hope they keeping their poorlys to themselves and are feeling better super fast!

george was definitely trying out all the hot feeding spots  Wiggler i have a bebe au lait cover it wasnt the cheapest nursing cover available but it is totally compact, and totally covers everything, but its easy to get access under it to sort yourself out and its boned at the top so nothing gets near babys face and you can still feed with eye contact. I think my sister grabbed a photo of me feeding in Morrisons I'll put it on, and you can get less bold designs  its a good investment for when your confident to try NIP. I was nervous as hell yesterday and did it hidden in New Look, but today I was more relaxed and it felt so good to not have to rush back somewhere to feed, no clock watching just stop, get a drink and feed :)

Gave Bethany a bath earlier and she gave me "the look" I felt like a mean mummy :(
