Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

I will try with the one breast through the night. seeing the MW in the morning. I hadnt thought that he'd need to feed more to increase his supply. I had him on my sore breast earlier today for 45 minutes and he seemed to get nothing. When he feeds off my ok breast you can see the milk in his mouth and around the nipple as he comes up and down, it gets very wet (sorry tmi) but the sore side although i can easily touch the breast and get the milk started (that doesnt hurt at all!!) the nipple doesnt seem to get wet when he feeds and he doesnt have a milky mouth when he is done, and of course the nipple is so sore. I really dont want to give in at the first hurdle, but I dont want to beat myself up so much I cry! Oh and my stomach and lady bits still feel like Ive been kicked by a horse I can barely stand or sit without pain raging through me, its probably these after pains but its really not helping. I almost couldnt get my breath the pain was so bad earlier :(

For the afterpains, ibuprofen and paracetemol work well:hugs: The milky mouth may or may not prove he's getting milk, nipples are slightly different shapes so the latch on one gives more leakage which gives milky mouth. When you put him to the right side did the breast go softer? If it did, he's getting milk. Also can you feel any lumps, a blocked duct could reduce amount coming out. Very gld you have a mw coming out to diagnose, you should be so proud of yourself doing this for George:hugs:

I dont feel very proud right now. My boob does go soft, both of them after a feed. Oddly any lumps Ive had have been on my good side, but massage has got rid of them even the huge one under my arm. I have felt the sore one and no lumps i can feel. The breast is not painful at all, there is no cracks tothe nipple, dry skin or bleeding. neither breast is terribley warm or itchy everything is ok until he comes near me to feed.

Hun im sorry:hugs: Doesn't sound like mastitis, thrush could still be the cause though, you dont get outward signs just agony for LO to latch but the pain should lessen as the feed goes on. Thats good that the breast goes soft, means he's taking in milk. Are his nappys wet? My personal feeling of thrush is like bfing a razor blade.

We made it through the night :) Sore breast is feeling very full so now Im looking at something to buy to express, based on Brandi's review Ive been looking for the Avent one she suggested but cant find it, but found another few Avent ones. The electric is £90 and the manual is £30 and Im not sure which to get, both have the best reviews for manual/electric categories. They both seem to be well used by larger breast ladies so do I go manual or electric? Im a little worried that if £90 doesnt work I have a huge expense of bottles and steriliser on top and its going to be a bit harsh in one lump sum! MW is due in 1 hour so will be asking her advice on the way forward. I slept well and more focused today, tried him on the breast, I cant do it, nursing with a razor blade is pretty close to a description. The boob is very full and I feel no lumps. If it is thrush is it treatable?? Does expressing still hurt the nipple like the baby does?? Is he too young to be fed bottle and breast or will I have to waste the milk?? Oh I suppose i could freeze it until he is old enough. Arghh so many questions sorry, but my determination is better today, I dont wantr to go down the formula route. Awww OH was begging me last night to open the formula and stop putting myself through it but the good breast feels so good, I have extremely little latching pain, its not even pain just a sharp 'oooo' then he is on and feeds so well.

:hi: milos I kept losing this thread lol so I bookmarked it now :)

Glad you made it through the night hun, fingers crossed the MW can give you some good advice. I found expressing hurt waaaaay less than nursing when my nipples were really sore. If you aren't planning on expressing often I would just get a manual, way less money.

My little lady is awake so often now, its really lovely, until 2 days ago she will still asleep unless she wanted food, but now she is awake much more and I love it!

Dylan is in a lovely mood again this morning, he decided to wake up at 4.50am! so I put him back to bed, and he decided to stay there til 5.30. GRRR, better, but not perfect.

OH is pissing me right off again, stupid phone is going down the loo soon I swear! And he is getting loads more sleep than me, but if I ask him to get up to put Dylan back to bed he acts like the most sleep deprived man on earth! I plan on sitting on my arse resting today while he plays man-slave and does all the houswork :haha:

:haha: wiggler get that whip cracked!! Glad Dylan and Bethany are doing so well :) Little monkey mustnt need his sleep bless him! How's his drink situation going hun?

I have my sister and her fella here, another chaotic weekend for me! George is in his swing he looks sooo relaxed lol He is fitting into 0-3 months clothes now :( not because he is chunky, but he is so long! I just fitted into a new standard pair of size 14 jeans!!!!!!! :happydance: and a size 12 top, how the hell the top is smaller than the jeans I have no idea the boobs have gone no where pmsl Ive so far lost 26lbs in 9 days :)

I cant believe how long George is, and much of a titch Sam is, lol!! We are in next newborn still!!

Managed to express half an oz at 4, and another now!! Ery happy!! :D If nothing else I am happy doing a mixture of breast and formula!! Sam has no idea how to latch on and just cries, but another MW is coming on monday to help, but I am happy just expressing for now!!

Hope your feeling ok new. :hugs: xx

24/7 Thats brill!!!! :happydance::happydance:

The drink situation is solved!! He drinks water and only water now!!! His new "thing" is demanding food 24/7 :dohh:  Hehe thats not happening, he can hav his meals and 2 small snacks between and thats it.

My mum is visiting later, I can't wait, she is bringing loads of clothes for Bethany so we are going to dress her up all pretty. :cloud9:

Pictures please!! :D:D I'm starting to feel I am obsessed with taking pictures, and have to keep restraining myself from keep uploading them to FB. xx

After lovingly expressing for my darling son, I gave him the bottle and he gave me a look of disgust and turned his head away. xx

I most certantly will take piccies, I'm going to make myself look half human too so I can have some piccies of me and her together.

Aww bless, he'll take it soon. Bethany gives me looks of disgust all the time  She also looks at me like I'm mad too. :haha:

so glad someone is coming to help you get him on the breast hun!

mw has been and agree's it could be thrush of the milk ducts so i need tablets, cream and a gel for little man so he doesnt pass it to the othe breast. she talked me through some relaxation techniques and helped get him on the sore breast, allbeit through tears! she watched him feed and said its definitely not a latching issue he was perfect. meds will be here in an hour and she is coming back tomorrow see how it is and i should have relief within 24-48 hours. he still isnt gaining enough weight, but said he has a few days to catch up she wasnt worried she is so much nicer.

24 - I cant get over how long he is lol both me and dad are only 5ft 6" he has grown 2cm since birth and is now 56cm!!!

Well done on the expressing hun! keep it going you'll be up to full supply soon! keep giving him the breast he'll get the latch :hugs:

Wiggler glad dylans drinking is sorted, who'd have thought he'd be demanding food 24/7 huh lol bless him!

Aww new, glad the MW could help hun, fingers crossed the meds work :hugs:

I know, its really shocking the way Dylan is with food, he eats more than me now, if someone had told me 6 months ago he would be a little piggy I never would have believed them! I admit I am bad though, I really should eat more, I just forget :dohh:
