Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

Ava likes to try and chew on the spout of milo's sippy. so i thought she would be interested in hers. but she doesn't get the concept of leaning her head back to drink while sitting. i dont give her juice or water so i dont really have a need for one yet

I thought babies weaning had to have water with their meals  Aaron uses his sippy cup to teeth on the rubber mouth bit:dohh:

Is Ava not weaned??? I thought they were supposed to take water with their meals to help with the digestion?

I agree with Heyy, whilst they need formula, they need a bottle, the bottle is very much about comfort imho once they move onto cows milk then they can be weaned off the bottle. I did contemplate giving George milk at nusery in a sippy cup because he is BF and he gets his comfort from nursing on me, but I am glad he takes the bottle at nursery, they tell me he doesnt drink much milk but he does like the bottle in his mouth and occassional sucks before going down for a nap.

They don't advocate water for weaned babies here- not til after a year- I only give it to them for fun so they can learn the cup thing

I dont want to ditch the bottle, just needed to know at what age he shouldn't be having one. I see 2-3 year olds walking round with them and I think it looks odd at their age:shrug:

I think Bethany is ready for the switch, she now likes to chew on the teat/mothpeice as she drinks and squidgy teats just don't do it for her. She really doesn't like her bottles now and from my experience with Dylan, the soon off bottles the better, I don't want another 2 year old screaming cos I didn't have the heart to take it away sooner.

I am also soooooooooooooooooooo happy she is self weaning from dummies!! :happydance:

I'm sure I've read in a uk baby book to offer water when being weaned but only at meal times? I just handed Aaron a sippy cup with a little water in and he learned himself after a few days.

yea the rules are different in every country, just like most countries don't sterilise like we do.

I dont give water:shrug: She has her solids then I nurse her and wanted to stay this way till 2, should she be having water too?

Yay for the new cot new:happydance: Good luck fitting it in lol! Glad George is sleeping for you, hope you get some sleep tonight too:hugs: I dont think it'll be long before George is off too hun!

Heyy, cake pops are great, definately a few practice go's needed lol! That bag was awesome too, you're very talented:flower: Hope you get to see your friend Charlotte.

Wiggler, yay for weaning of the dummy:happydance:

ick, battery on my lappy will die in approx 20 seconds, goodnight ladies x x x

I asked my HV about water because I didnt know how it worked with BF babies  and she said to introduce it in a sippy cup when I introduce solids, and when George saw the doctor a few months back he made a comment about drinks and said he should have water with his food.... but never mind different countries giving different advice, you can get 2 HVs in the same town with different advice, I would go with what you feel hun! George has water on and off through the day, he cant hold the cup himself though.

Harvery i think 12mths is an appropriate age to start weaning off the bottle, although each child is different and Im sure Aaron will let you know in his own way what he prefers.

I'll double check tomorrow at Eilidhs appointment but I think I'm probably fine, other 3 are still alive anyway:haha:

New, Eilidh cant hold a cup either and bottles she just uses to hit other babies:dohh:

I`ve been looking through the Introduce Your Babies thread in the Baby Club and become all broody again dammit.

That`s it. I`m out of the Hell No club. I`m jumping into the WTT club. Gotta get that damn reversal first.

 what other use does a bottle have??? :haha:

George stares at the cup on the highchair, then stares at me and back tot he cup, as if to say 'well either the cup makes its own way to my mouth or mam you do it, either way, Im not doing it'... :haha:

Hmmmmm this cot is not going to fit in this bedroom  Do you think OH could move the bedroom wall out a few cm's or maybe knock some the chimet breast wall down??? :haha: Althogh right now Im thinking sawing a chunk out of the window sill would do for now lol

What you going to do once you get the reversal? I know how thick that sounds lol, I do know the birds and the bee's story :haha: but just wondered given Mike doesnt want any more

New- what are the dimensions of your room, and what furniture do you have in there?

Lol new, I have a baby bully and you've got a slave driver:haha: George is sooo cute hun:cloud9: Ermmm with the bed does sound like something has to be sawed or smashed!

So many new babies to come it seems!

I`m still making arrangements to leave. I don`t want to be with him anymore. I know that sounds selfish, but I only wanted him to go to counselling so the kids didn`t lose their dad. I want to be on my own for awhile. I can`t take him anymore.

Will you use a donor for baby #4 then hun?

Hmmmm the room is an odd shape, well its not its kinda square ( really odd that huh!) but it has a sticky out bit on one wall causing me endless problems. All I have in this room is a double bed and a set of drawers. The width of one of the alcoves is 66cm, the cot is 66cm wide.. BUT length is 122cm, which over laps the windowsill which reduces the width to 64cm arghhhh... 2nd alcove is about 108cm wide but due to position of the bed, only 83cm long so cot wont fit in that gap, to move the bed and free up length from this alcove Id have to fit the bed on the wall with the sticky out bit and that makes the room length 90cm, and my bed is 94 I think i measure.

These are my options I think;

1. Saw the window sill down to make it as thin as the skirting to the cot fits in alcove 1!

2. Buy a new double bed base without a big wooden frame (divan base) measuring 88cm!

3. Get OH to knock the wall down and move it 4 cm :haha:

4. Put George in with Joshua... :nope: Im not ready for this yet!

5. leave nice new cot in its nice box blocking up my hallway and continue with the moses basket

Councilling is for the best Brandi at least for the kids:thumbup: Will you be dating again then or go down the donor route again?
