So I'm looking at these and wondering if any of you ladies have experience with them or could give me a rundown of how well they've worked out. I'm already getting a Moby wrap for general wear around the house/short journeys but I'm eager to try out lots of different baby wearing methods and love the look of these

Are these as effective as the Moby for newborns and younger babies?
Also, do your husbands/men in your life use them? I think my partner is a bit reluctant with the Moby but to me this looks a bit more like a bog standard carrier and I like that we could get a more "masculine" pattern that might appeal to him!

Any input?

Also, would something much cheaper like this do just as well?

Can't comment on those as I've not had either but we've had an ergo from the start and still use it now at 21 months old. It's been used nearly every day.

My oh uses it al the time, he prefers it over using the pushchair as it's just easier to get around.

I'd recommend something like the ergo, I think it looks "masculine" enough. We have the black/camel one.

Oh also, I've ordered a ring sling to see how we get on with it and if we like it I will get my OH this one ...

They're good for newborns and through toddlerhood.

I had a hop tai from 5 weeks and then a connecta (ssc with unstructured waistband) from about 10weeks.

Main thing to consider for a newborn is that the bottom can be pulled in to match a newborns smaller hips. Also some have better neck support than others.

The one you linked says it is single sided but most mei tais are double sided so you could get a pretty side for you and you oh could use the plain side

Personally I find SSCs much better than mei-tais. I could never get the ties to stay as taut as when I tied them for very long, and it hurt my back.

I have a mei tai, woven wrap and a connecta. The only one my hubby will use is the connecta as it has buckles. I dont think he has the patience to deal with straps. Plus ours is not a very girly/patterned design so it looks quite 'manly' apparently!
