Hi All,

This is my first pregnancy, hubs and I are very excited since we've been trying for a while.

I'm six weeks along and have been having tiny amounts of discharge the past week, clear and not much smell, no blood which I take to be a good sign. Tonight though, just before my shower I noticed that there was slightly more discharge than normal (but still quite a tiny amount, not enough to soak through my undies) and it had a metallic smell. Does anyone know what this is?

I've also got cramp-like pains at the moment so my mind is going into overdrive worrying over this

Please help.

I should probably add that I have a UTI but then I've had it since last week and have been on antibiotics for it since Monday and this is the first time my discharge has smelt metallic.

It could be your sense of smell has changed, rather than the smell of your vaginal discharge.
Our senses of smell do tend to become distorted- not just more sensitive but actually distorted- during early pregnancy, which accounts for a lot of food aversions and nausea.
Right now, a lot of food just smells like garbage to me. Like rotting garbage. Like crap.

I keep having to remind myself that my husband is not actually in the kitchen broiling rotten food or frying up feces (which is how it smells when he cooks a hamburger).
It's just that my sense of smell has gone absolutely haywire for the time being, as it has done in all of my pregnancies.

I wouldn't worry about it, if I were you.

I smell different - both in my ladybits and my armpits! Its a little bit like rubber or tyres... Very odd indeed.

Could be the antibiotics messing with things. Quite often they cause thrush, maybe you're getting it.

I agree, it could be your antibiotics that are causing the change in smell. Does the paperwork give you any ideas? I read online that some antibiotics can leave you with a metallic taste in your mouth, so I suppose it's quite possible.

Thanks ladies, you've all been really reassuring.

I've not had anymore metallic discharge since last night (even though I constantly feel "wet" down there, tmi? sorry) so I'm quite relieved!
