Mums of boys different to mums of girls

A scientist says that mums of boys are more likely to be bigger, taller, more dominant, more 'athletic' and have higher testosterone. She noted that more female athletes have boys. Whereas more 'feminine' women with low testosterone have more girls. Do you think this is true Y/N?

I think yes, but that is just my observation on the people I know having kids. I also think that occasionally more feminine women do have boys, and vice versa, so you can never be 100% sure.
If I see a more androgynous woman having a baby I automatically pick she will be having a boy, and this has almost always turned out to be the case in my own predictions.

Hmm, interesting... But the sex of the baby is determined by the sperm, so really unless women one way or the other are more accepting of the different sperm, I don't see how that theory can work.. Does that make sense?? But if the theory is right, I should be having a boy :( (hoping for a girl!!:))

aparently the mother body adapts her egg to be more receptive to either an X or Y sperm. So it isn't just up to the man.

:hi:

I think No because im very athletic and very tall n dominant i have a girl..People want to know everything.Nothing can be mysterious or a surprise these days:haha::hug:

Well that doesn't really make any sense...cause if that was the case how do you explain people that have boys and girls? I have 2 girls and a boy, my mom also had 2 girls and a boy, my grandma had a boy, girl, boy, girl, girl and then a boy. We are all short and chunky. LOL. I have several short petite friends that are not at all atheletic have all boys and where my sister is taller and more athletic than I has 2 girls.

I have never heard of our eggs adapting to accept a X or Y sperm...thats a new interesting thought. I just always thought it was pretty much up to God at that point. ;)

it just makes it more likely, it doesn't mean they will have all girls or all boys!

Some women who have an average amount of testosterone etc tend to have equal amounts of boys and girls........

The egg does select for sperm. In the article posted it implies this is a new finding, but I've see research finding this for at least the last 7 or 8 years.

I thought this was interesting, because it sounds like the Chinese Gender Calendar method of predicting gender!

If you draw a normal distribution curve of testosterone, most women will fall in the middle; they have a medium amount and fluctuate from side to side across a middle line month to month, perhaps producing an egg adapted to an X chromosome one cycle, a Y chromosome the next.

Still not sure you can convince me of this...cause I think if you keep digging you could probably find a sciencetist that totally disagrees with this fact...I am going with my original theory....its all in God's hands. Just my thoughts but I do see your point. :hugs:

The egg does select for sperm.

That is interesting...everything I ever learned says that millions of spermies swim to the egg and the strongest one is able to pentrate. But I will be reading up more cause now I am peaked by this...

It's mentioned in the article the OP posted regarding cows, but I've read mention of it in various places for nearly a decade. I'll look through my stuff and see if I have any references nearby.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry that I am being compared to a cow. LOL.

A quick search of my library didn't bring anything up (my office is a mess) but here's some info from an online search. The process is called "chemotaxis."

Wiki has an overview (not my favorite source, but its a little clearer to read than some of the others for the lay person):

Well this means I'm more likely to have a boy :( Was hoping for a girl
Definitely taller, more athletic and I know I have higher than average testosterone :( DH will be pleased though.

Based on my observation yes :) but i have to say i have a higher testosterone level than the avg women i think avg is 800(going completely from memory so not 100% sure) and my level was over 1200:blush: well thats what my OBGYN told me.anyways im a having a girl:cloud9: but im sure its true to some extent

but i have PCOS so it common for my testosterone levels to be higher.

sorry but i tend to disagree, i am very short, petite and not at all athletitic lol. i have two boys. My mum is same stamp as me (well alot thinner) and she as a girl and a boy

Think its all down to nature and random. My older sis has 3 boys and she is the ultimate female!

i'm not athletic in the slightest lol (always been bad at sport)
I'm not tall either only 5ft 5inch and have a 3yr old son x

Hi :flower: I am very tall with a big natural strong build and I have 1 girl and 1 boy with another girl an the way so the theory doesn't work with me but it sounds very interesting

I don't agree. I'm short, weak and submissive, and have NO sporting talents except for cheering on my Vancouver Canucks hockey team, lol. I have one of each, but always wanted more boys than girls.

i dont believe this at all iam not at all athletic not at all manish i like cars and bikes but i derss girly i like glitter and make up and all sortd of girly thing and i have 2 boys and number 3 boy on the way x
