I found out on christmas eve that my baby will be born with gastroschisis. Im 19 years old and Iv'e been to specialist appointments and have ultrasounds ever 4 weeks, iv'e been told i will have bub 3 weeks early and its my choice weather to have a natural birth or c-section. I'm now 27 weeks and and starting to really worry. Just wondering if there was anyone else who's had the same complications and weather you chose to have a natural birth and also a little bit more about what to expect.

Hi, just bumping for you. I've no experience with that condition but wanted to wow you luck and say that ordinarily an induction is nothing to worry about :) Both a section or a vaginal delivery can be positive experiences <3

I'm sorry I have no idea what that condition is but I would strongly advise a section. If you're induced early and your bodies just not ready it quite often fails and you end up with an emergency section - this happened to me.

Hi there! My baby boy was born with gastroschisis in July 2012 and was born at 33 weeks gestation. I also had scans every 4 weeks until 30 weeks then started having them every 2 weeks, which was a great thing because they noticed a change for the worse at my 32 week ultrasound. His bowels had become dilated and matted, and my amniotic fluid levels were low, so they gave me steroid shots and monitored me very closely and he was born a week later by emergency c-section. They may be telling you now you can choose, but with gastroschisis, the situation can change very quickly as mine did and I've read online the same thing. One week your baby may look great, and the next there may be a drastic change and an emergency c section may be necessary. I've read a lot that have been born vaginally, but also a lot that have been born by c-sections. Anyways, I now have a healthy and amazing 20 month old toddler :D If you have any questions regarding gastroschisis and what to expect while baby is in the NICU and the months to follow, just pm me. My son was in the hospital for 4 months and I have lots of experience having a baby with gastroschisis! I also know how scary a time it can be while your pregnant. I felt I had noone to turn to. Let me know if you need anything at all!
