There are tons of myths and a few tests i remember reading of whilst pregnant with DD that apparently give you an idea of your babys gender. I thought i'd post some for fun, here goes (Remember these are for fun, it still 50/50 if they turn out to be true or not) :
The Cabbage Test :-
Red cabbage has pigments in it that are sensitive to pH and turn a different color based on how acidic or basic a solution is. Ergo, you can do a super cheap test on your urine pH using red cabbage from the grocery store.
1. Cut half a red cabbage into little pieces. If you're not feeling morning sick at the time and can stomach some of the red cabbage, enjoy a few bites while cutting. Great fiber and tons of nutrients.
2. Bring about 2 cups of water to a boil. Add two cups of cabbage pieces and remove the pan from the heat to let the cabbage simmer for about 10 minutes until the water turns a deep purplish color.
3. Strain out the cabbage pieces and keep the water. Allow it to cool completely. Add equal parts of cabbage indicator water and urine. Concentrated urine (first thing in the morning, for example) works best, but try several times throughout the day. Watch for a color change!
This test says that a pink/red color indicates a BOY and a purple color indicates a GIRL. The only problem I've found with this test is that people can't agree on what the colors mean. Another web site about this baby gender prediction method says that if the cabbage indicator turns pink it's a GIRL, and a BOY should be blue/green. Hmmmm....I've also read that the results are the most accurate prior to 10 weeks pregnant.
The Ring Test :-
To conduct the this old wives tale you simply take your ring and tie a thread about 12 inches long to it. Sit or lie down and hold the thread over your pregnant belly. The ring will either go in circles or side to side (back and forth).
If the ring goes in circles, you're expecting a baby GIRL. If the ring goes side to side you are expecting a BOY according to this old wives tale.
The Key Test :-
If the pregnant woman picks up a key from the thin end, then it’s a GIRL. Picking it up by the bottom, rounder part means a BOY is on the way
You're more likely to be carrying a BOY
if...
• Your baby's heartbeat is lower than 140 beats per minute
• you're carrying all out front
• you're carrying low
• you're blooming in pregnancy
• you didn't suffer from morning sickness in your first trimester
• your right breast is bigger than your left
• you look at yourself in the mirror for at least a minute and your pupils dilate
• you crave salty food or protein, such as cheese and meat
• your feet become cold more quickly than before you were pregnant
• you tie your wedding ring to some thread, hang it over your stomach and it swings back and forth
• your skin becomes dry
• you combine your age at the time of conception with the number of the month you conceived and the resulting number is even
• your hair has become more full-bodied and shiny during pregnancy
• the hair on your legs has been growing faster during pregnancy
• you are more prone to headaches
• your pillow faces north when you sleep
• you're asked to show your hands and you present them palms down
• you lie on your left side when sleeping
• your urine is bright yellow
• you were the more aggressive partner during love-making when you conceived
• you eat a clove of garlic and the smell seeps out of your pores
• your previous child's first word was "dada".
You're more likely to be having a GIRL
if...
• Your baby's heartbeat is faster than 140 beats per minute
• you're carrying all round
• you're carrying high
• you've missed the "blooming" period altogether
• you suffered morning sickness during your first 12 weeks
• your left breast is bigger than your right
• you look at yourself in the mirror for at least a minute, but your pupils don't dilate
• you crave sweet things, such as juice, fruit and sweets
• you tie your wedding ring to some thread, hang it over your stomach and it swings in circles
• your skin is soft
• you are more moody than usual
• you're asked to show your hands and you present them palms up
• you were the less aggressive partner during love-making when you conceived
• you eat a clove of garlic, but you don't smell of it
• you combine your age at the time of conception with the number of the month you conceived and the resulting number is odd
• your hair has become thinner and dull during pregnancy
• you lie on your right side when sleeping
• your pillow faces south when you sleep
• your urine is dull yellow
• your previous child's first word was "mama".
I remeber trying the ring test with my DD and it did come out i was having a I have not tried it yet with this pregnancy but i will try it later and see what result i get.
