Hello all,

My son just turned 5 months old and has received only breastmilk up until now. I am starting to not make enough milk for how much he is eating each day, have tried all sorts of things to make more, and not happening. Also, he went from STTN around 3 months to waking up every 2-3 hours to eat over the past 3 weeks. I would love to just be able to wake up and feed him. But I have to leave for work at 5am and just can't handle that many wake ups. Thinking about trying formula at bedtime feeding to see if it helps him go longer at night. But normally I nurse to sleep at night and i love that experience. Does any one have any suggestions? most advice is to bfeed, then give formula to top off, but I would like to continue our bedtime bonding with nursing. Does anyone think i could give a couple ounces of formula then bfeed after?

i think most babies - once you find a formula they will accept - will take a top up after a bf. I tried to introduce formula to my DD at 6 months and she wouldn't take it :( doesn't mean your LO wont tho. I would nurse him as you usually do and have a bottle ready for when he is done. Just let him drink what he wants and see if that helps.

BUT remember there is a 4/5 month sleep regression. My LO slept well until she was about 4 months - then started to wake frequently through the night. Took A LONG time she began to sleep through again. I would try the formula top off, but don't be suprised if that doesn't stop the wake ups completely :flower:

Maybe you could give him a Bottle for his penultimate feed of the day And then still give him his bedtime breastfeed. And/or Give him a bottle dream feed at 10 PM or 11 PM To hopefully see him through the night? Gl! X
