Need ivf - heelp!

Hey ladies around 3 weeks after my parnters 3rd SA we have found out he has between 0-1% morphology with his sperm (i have mild pcos) so was advised its looking like we will need ivf to concieve.

We are booked in with nhs ferility specialist Oct WOOP!!

I was just looking for some help really on what to expect, ive been advised that the waiting list is about 18 months in aberdeen scotland, and we will be entilied to 3 goes on nhs.

I have heard if you go private they take these private rounds off your free goes, why?? How do they know you went private?? Couldnt you do it on the hush hush and still get what your entilied to??

Ive got to get my bmi down to 30 - 3st/11lbs to go... but 18 months seems soo long for me plus the months ill need to wait until apps etc we could be talking 2 years!!!

id love to go private first could afford 1 round at a push!! BUT do not want to do this if it takes away our free rounds as we couldnt afford any more after that

The NHS don't like you to go private first because they theorise that if IVF is going to work chances are it'll work in the first three goes, they don't want to throw taxpayers money at someone who they don't think it'll work for. I wouldn't consider trying to do a sneaky private go as it will end up on your medical notes somewhere along the line.

Also, the 18 month waiting list will be when you get onto the IVF waiting list. I had at least a years worth of appointments before they would even consider putting me on the list but I was unexplained so you might skip some of the diagnostic tests.

It's great that you get three goes though, thats much more than other areas of the country get, good luck
