ok here it is, im 9 weeks pregnant i sometimes get bloated but this it usually at night but even in the day time i've had comments saying your starting to show (family and friends know). my new job has me working all hours but i havent told them that i am pregnant as im worried thi will affect the amount of hours work they give me (being an oncall job) i know i dont have to tell them until 15 weeks before the EDD but now im worried that some one will notice, you can see my swollen belly no matter what i wear and i cant wear anything with ruffles etc as im working in the care feild.

Can you not blow it off? Say like "pffffffft just bloated?" I mean, if they don't actually know, most people wouldn't say? You could play dumb and pretend you don't know any different. The only down side being that if they don't know then they aren't legally obliged to give you time off for appointments, etc and then there's the case of if anything goes wrong. I told work straight away at 8 weeks incase I need to run off and be sick or i'm not feeling well and of course the lifting and constant bending.

its on call work i dont have to take the shift if i dont want to as they can always find otheres to take over but i really dont want the knowing until 12 weeks as i've had 2 MC and really didnt feel right in work knowing that my boss and colleges knew. maybe ill just play it dumb and say i didnt know until i had a doctors apt for feeling dizzy or something. thanks anyhow x x

Oh i see. Is it THAT noticable then? Do you think that people who didn't know would comment?
That's a good idea, it's getting colder so here's when all the colds/flus/virus's start coming around so there's always an "excuse" I guess as to why you wouldn't be able to, etc

I was in the same predicament as you hun, i also work in care work and started working for at my new job 5 weeks ago. I was told i didnt need to let them know until i was 25 weeks pregnant. However on my first day (i was shadowing a colleague) I collapsed and when straight down banged all my head and nose. It had to be reported to my boss and she asked me to go in and fill an incident report out. I went to the Docs to get checked over and then went to work and told them i was pregnant and just had it confirmed by the Doctor. My boss was brilliant with me, when i went for interview in March i wasnt pregnant so obviously i wasnt aware.
Work cannot dismiss you or treat you any different just because you are pregnant, if they did they wouldnt have a leg to stand on in court hun. With you doing care work it can be more strenuous which is another reason i told work early on like i did. I only now do light duty calls (No moving and handling with hoists etc) So they have been very flexible putting me in calls to suit me.

Hope you sort it out hun. xxx
