~~~November Sparklers 2010 mummies and daddies thread ~~~~
Thank you kirsty :)
no I didn't have a great night. Evan didn't settle at all between 11pm and 4am :( but I have changed his feeds and he is fine today! We'll see what tonight brings! I just hope he has put some weight on by Thursday. I may have to top him up with formula if not :( plus a likely hospital tripto make sure he is ok.
Not a good night for me either, feed at 10, 12, 2(and then she decided to be active for 2 hours, like she did when she was in my tummy), 6(stayed up for an hour and a half), 8. BF is crazy business i tell ya. I love it though.
hi girls hows everyone doing. I had bf specialist out and she couldnt get lib to latch either so have to continue with what im doing using the nipple shields and try her at every feed with the nipple to see if one day she just clicks. She is having plenty wet and dirty nappies but I feel like im waking her for feeding. The shields are filling her full of wind so been advised to try some infacol before feeds as she like to hold onto her wind as if it were gold! Last night wasnt to bad fed at 10 and then 1.30 - 3.30 and then 7.30 Im just worried about my supply should I be able to squirt milk accorss the room yet? I have ben expressing after her feeds to keep up supply as nipple shields can hinder it and got 40mls but I dont seem to constantly leak. ahh this breast feeding malarky is so hard why didnt mother nature just think of a simpler way, maybe make them see through so we can see them emptying.
We have got hubbys family coming down today, grr I dont want them all passing her around is that bad?
Love to all mammys and babies xxx
I want to be here!!! Congrats again girlies xxx
GG I don't squirt milk :haha: if I squeeze my nipple it comes out quite a bit though. Also as he feeds I know it comes out in giant amounts x x
I found it!!
Please can you add us Soph?
Amber Harrie born on 29/10/10 at 10.10am weighing 7lbs 12ozs.
Hope all of you mummies are doing okay?
As for us, BF is going well, she seems to cluster feed a little at night, but that is completely normal in newborns, it is their way of making sure the milk supply is meeting their demands and apparently night milk is much better, so I have read/been told!!
Amber is a week old today :happydance: it seems to have flown by!! I am not yet sleep deprived, not found that I have needed to nap during the day yet...give it time, no doubt that deprivation will hit me one day soon :haha:
I wish libby would cluster feed :( she seems to go ages I want to wake her up to feed but midwife said only if it goes over 4 hours lol
ahh thanks anna when i squeeze i can get some out and I know she is getting a lot as I can hear her gulp it.
I think its just feeding little and often am to get supply up... ok, is it normal to have loose bowels after giving birth?
I also have a uterine infection :( I had ragged membraines after giving birth so need antibiotics.
Oh right, thanks gemma. No evan doesn't really cluster feed then, he still goes approx 3 hours. I'm not sure about the bowels as have been on iron tablets so kinda gone the other way lol xx
oh im glad evan is feeding every 3 hours too I thought it was abnormal and I was worried that because she wasnt cluster feeding I would lose my milk. I just pumped 2oz swapping each boob after 5 mins to try and "cluster feed" Im gonna store it in fridge but im undecided what to do with it... maybe give a little top up through the night to settle her for longer.
Your milk won't dry up hun. 3 hours is totally normal for their age! At first Evan went 4-5 hours as he slept so much but i was told to wake him every 3 hours cos of his weight loss. He is getting into a much better "routine" I use the word very loosley!! But he is settling so much better now, I'm not sure if it is a bit of my confidence, feeding him better or what. But he has settled to bed no problem tonight :) I expect him to wake around 2-2.30 for his next feed. Feeding does take ages though as he has a bit for 15 mins or so then has a break (nap, poo, look around) then feeds again for another 20 mins ish.
Madelyn has been doing a lot of cluster feedings. Sometimes she will only go 30 mins and want more boob juice! She usually goes 2-3 hours of sleep in between. and around 2-3 in the morning she is really active and wide-eyed(I told everyone this was going to happen cause that was when she was active in my belly). Has anyone else lost their appetite after having their lo's?
Evan only goes 2-3 hours at night and feeds little and often too
I've had a smaller appetite too!! I ate so much when preggo now I eat normally.
I am so puffy in my face I look horrid and can't excercise :(
yeh i have no appetite either have to force myself to eat but i get really thirsty when feeding her.
well another bad night last night she pretty much wanted feeding 9 - 3 on and off and wouldnt settle she finally fell asleep on my chest and then screams when i put her down, only place she will I think iv spoilt her :( x
Gemma, Evan has been on me on/off since 8.30am!! He's asleep on me now after feeding. Twice I've put him down but ge gets ratty :(
Anyone elses babies getting dry and flaky skin? Really dry arond his ankles and wrists and his belly is flaking all over his vest. Have put baby oil on him today. Is that ok u think??
Xxx
gemma it's pretty much jus u and me here :haha:
Hiya Soph, the crying when being put down after feeding, then waking and wanting more feeding/comforting is totally normal at this stage, it seems like real hard going, but it does get easier, I promise!! :thumbup:
Amber's skin seems to have gone dry and flaky too, rubbing in baby oil with cotton wool should do the trick and is safe to use on them.
AFM: We are still doing okay with the BF, although it seems she is constantly latched on me and that everything falls down to me, I keep looking at hubby thinking how easy he has it :haha: so I got a breast pump and have been expressing the odd bottle here and there so he can help out too (at least that way I get to have a bath, or just an hour to myself)
My section wound is still a bit 'leaky' at the end it opened up :nope: so have been spraying lots of savalon antiseptic wash on it in an attempt to avoid infection, will see what the midwife has to say tomorrow.
