I have just applied for help with child care costs but haven't had a the amount i get back confirmed yet but i have just notice had a £30 paid from child tax credits into my bank. Is this all you get back for child card cost or is this some kind of boo boo? I think it depends on your income but i'm not paid loads.

I will actually have to dance for money if thats all i get back as i would have no money for mortgage or bills!

how much are your childcare costs? I've done some research and if my childcare costs are £100 a week I get the £100 back but I lose out on my childtax credit

my understanding of the childcare element of working tax credit is that if your salary is below £26k you get 80% paid (this is a lone salary or joint salary). we get about 80% paid as our joint salary is below £26k. I *think* the more you make the less help you get......

not sure though, best phone them up and ask. hopefully it is a just random one off payment they have made to you.

I pay about £580 a month which is low for childcare costs but its a friend. Joint we earn about £45k but the mortgage takes up most of that so theres not much more we can squeeze out of it.

oh no i just realised i think the tax credit people HAVE made a boo boo on my child tax credit paper work they say £45k but we don't earn £45k more like £35K. Though that sounded a bit good! I think i need to have word with them. Why do they make things hard work.

one of my friends and her partner earn about £35K and they get practially no help with childcare costs. she decided not to work as it wasn't really worth it. give them a buzz, i always find them helpful. good luck.
