Ok -- so i woke up thinking about this name. Not even sure why? It's been on my mind since i woke up, even though it's never been on my baby name list before.....

Aaliyah Giavana
nn. "Aly"

...the surname starts with a "B" & is two syllables

You girls always give such good, honest opinions....... so, what do you think??

Thanks! :flower:

I like it! Pretty interesting you woke up with the name in mind - maybe a premonition!
I think Aaliyah is more common in the UK than the US which is nice for you.
Love Aly for a NN:thumbup:

Thanks! I wouldn't have guessed it's common in the UK... interesting...

It's definitely "heard of" here in the US... i checked & it's like #64 or something... so not too bad. I've never known an Aaliyah & only know of one child with the name... but not a friend or family member's child.

Thanks for the insight... anyone else?

My mom actually said she likes the name Aaliyah! I'm shocked... she usually hates every name i mention... and then suggests horrible names instead!!

We have totally different taste in names! But finally... one we agree on! :wohoo:

Not very many opinions on this name?

Anyone else?

Lol... not sure if that's a good sign or a bad one!

I love the name, but I prefer a more "normal" spelling. I know this one was made popular by the singer though so it wouldn't be considered weird or anything. I like Alia best. Very simple and pretty.

Aaliyah is a very Arabic name and Giovana sounds very Italian so it's a very multi-cultural mix that could be weird if you're neither of these. I think one of them would work just fine even if you aren't Arab or Italian, but personally it feels a bit much to have both together.

Yes, i'm Italian... well American but my heritage is Italian... However, my partner will technichally be the one conceiving tho... She is neither Arabic or Italian....... But i LOVE Italian names...!!

Alia is a pretty way to spell it -- But i think i prefer Aaliyah (even tho it is an awful lot of letters, for such a simple sounding name! lol).

We have decided we like Aaliyah Kiara best........ and so far i'm getting a good response from friends & family! I know it shouldn't matter, but i do want the people in our lives to like the name we pick! :happydance:

One of my favorite names but I prefer it with one A, so just Aliyah. A great middle name as well is Aliyah Marie, I think it 'flows', lol. Ali/Aly/Leah are great nicknames for Aliyah, imo.
Such a beautiful name though, I like what you've picked!

Thank you! I think i may actually consider Aliyah with one "A" -- it doesn't really look right to me, bc i'm used to seeing it with two. But it makes more sense... not sure why the usual spelling even has two "A"s

I have plenty of time to decide spelling, tho... as we are still just TTC!

Your daughter is beautiful & i love her name! :flower:

Aaliyah is a nice name, very pretty, but I do not think it flows well with the chosen middle name

With which middle name... the 2nd one we decided on: Aaliyah Kiara?

Kiara is my fave name... but OH said no... so i'm trying to sneak it in as a middle name! Ha!

I like long, flowy, girly, feminine, princess names... with lots of "A"s! :winkwink:

Does anyone have have suggestions of a middle name they think goes well?

(I don't want a typical middle name like: Rose, Ann, Marie, Mae, Grace, Elizabeth, etc.)

Kiara is a lovely name, very cute for a baby girl. Giavana seems a bit much, having both names ending in the "ah" sound.

Maybe
Aaliyah Candace
Aaliyah Miriam
Aaliyah Sophie
Aaliyah Brielle
Aaliyah Sage
Aaliyah Marley

The ones I listed are still feminine, unique but might flow a bit better because the names are different sounding from each other  ... if that makes sense, wasn't sure how to word it :haha:

My friends baby is called Aliyah and i really like the name!she is very cute and it suits her. I say go for it!!x

RubyRainbows: I think it works then if you're Italian! Doesn't matter who is carrying if you are both raising the babe together. Aaliyah Kiara's cute too.
