Well I really need to clean my oven, dh won't do it and can't get anyone else to, I've heard it's not safe to use oven cleaner when pregnant, is that true? If so what can I use that works? Thanks in advance!

eeeek id not heard that either and i was planning to do that this weekend. i normally use over pride

Yes apparently the fumes from oven cleaners can be harmful. I think the problems are with the compressed tin foam ones as their fumes can be rather overwhelming. I used oven pride a while ago to clean the inside of the door, I didn't find it very strong and I made sure I wore gloves ect.

If you have to do it and want to be safe I'd suggest making sure your windows are open, wear gloves and maybe one of those dust masks. Orrrr if you have the money, hire someone to clean it for you :) I would love someone to do mine but I think its gone past the stage of ever looking like new again, I just need to rip it out and stick a new one in haha.

I've looked up a bit about it but there seems to be no actual facts? I reckon it'd b fine as long as the room is well ventilated, but I heard there are chemicals in oven cleaner that are dangerous for pregnant women, but I don't know how true it is! :/

Thanks Mrs Hippo, no can't afford to hire someone, wish I could!

Well I used oven pride! I hope I haven't done anything to baby :/

I usually use mr muscle and it definatly says not to be used while pregnant also when baby does arrive I will make sure OH takes baby out while I clean it xxx

I guess I'll just read the label, make sure it doesn't say do not use when pregnant! I'm off to the shop in a bit to get something to clean it one way or another!

Why not try something more natural?

Here is a recipe for using Baking Soda, vinegar, and liquid soap, according to the before and after pics, it works!

Eeek! i just did mines yesterday and finished it today :|

i used those stupid gloves though to protect my hands. but i use the one that goes in the bag.. you basically put them inside this bag you get and then pour some of the liquid in and leave it there for 2 hours then turn it over for 4 hours lol but i left it over night. peice of cake. and i wash it with hot water today still using gloves.

I know there is certain things you arent meant to use but if i never done it no one else would have :(...

Cherry that sounds like oven pride. If you only used it in the bag for your trays/shelves you should be fine.

I have a product which I brought at a grand designs exhibition. It's called revive power paste. It contains no acids, non caustic and no smells. It's a really gentle cleaner and is designed for ovens, hobs, cookware, bbqs and even things like your trainers. It's really good and it's that gentle you don't need to wear gloves - although I do because it's messy. I'd recommend trying it (if your in the UK) it didn't cost me much either :)

Oh thanks hun lol i never even looked at the back of the packet lol i just seen it was a pound was chuffed with that :D xx
