P60 help

I'm trying to work out my husbands income from his p60 but getting a little confused. In the two boxes you have the income and then tax deducted. Do you deduct the tax off the income or add it on to get total gross for the year?? any help would be appreciated.

The Income shown will be gross. If you need to give the gross taxable pay that is the figure you need.
