Pain in the .............

Lower leg??? All day I have been getting sudden sharp severe pains in my lower left leg ( sort of in the calf area but the side of your leg that points outwards) .It is painful and makes me stop what im doing,it does it when I am resting it and also when I am walking on it. Anyone any ideas what it could be?? I havent banged or pulled it .Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar? x
