Would the batteries going on my camera make the quality of photos not as good???
I've done a few shots but nothing I think is really good :-( bit disappointed really

How useful is a tripod and what kinda of situations do you use them?

You can use them for still life, portraits, landscapes - anything really, especially in situations where you want as little camera shake as possible as the tripod keeps the camera still (well more still than my hands). I am probably going to invest in a remote control to use with it as well.

I didn't realise how handy they were until I went on a shoot with our local Flickr group from Milton Keynes to do the night trails shots (like I have uploaded onto our Redbubble group). Somebody lent me their spare tripod for the shoot and I realised that without I really would've had no chance of getting such good pictures of the trails as the camera needed to be as still as possible.

Roughly how much would a decent tripod be?

They come in varying prices as far as I can tell. I was looking at spending around £35 - £40 on a standard size tripod on it's own but in the end I managed to get a standard tripod, mini tripod (useful for doing close ups/macro shots of objects), what looks to be a really nice carry bag and some LCD protectors for my screen for £16 plus £19 postage from the US to the UK :D

on redbubble does anyone make their work available to purchase? not that anyone would wanna buy my stuff :rofl:

Neecee yep from good old Ebay from this shop here.....

https://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/47th-Street-Photo

It will probably take 2 - 3 weeks to arrive as packages frm the US usually take around that. I can let you know what it's like when it arrives if you like?

This is the actual item I bought

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=270390425914

I use a Canon though so you'd have to search their shop for your particular camera make/model thats what I did to find the original auction :)

Chel, I sell on RedBubble too!

A "decent" tripod needs to be sturdy enough to support the weight of your camera (and lenses, if you use a DSLR).... if it can't support the weight, there's no point in it as it won't hold your camera steady. My tripod gets used almost every time I take photos; voupled with the self-timer or my remote control, it ensures no camera shake will ruin your images. My tripod and separate tripod head cost me a total of £130 about 3 years ago - I see it as an investment as I use it daily when taking photos and I won't need to replace it for years.

Some new pics taken with my new camera :happydance:

Morning Girls!

I'm never going to keep up with this thread!! Been trying to catch up but gave up!

I'm off camera shopping today. Have my heart set on a Nikon but that's only because I haven't looked at any others so......

Any use anything other than a Nikon that they'd recommend? I'm looking at a Nikon D60 so something equivalent?

You girls are fab photographers!

xxxxxx

Hi girls, I found my old FUJI camera today and decided to charge it up and check the difference. It is obviously very different and poorer in quality, but its a great little camera, and is on the market now for around £140. It was around £300 when I got it, but obviously value has decreased.

I haven't processed any of these, so they are all raw hense why they are very basic. I would suggest looking at them in normal size :)
Here are a couple random things I snapped today:

Hi hun :)

I am a Nikon user :)
For beginning I would recommend the Nikon D40 or D60
They are brilliant cameras - I began with them and they were great. :)
Good luck hun

emma.......go to the right hand side where all ur layers are....and on the very bottom layer right click n press 'merge visible', youll then be able to save as Jpeg.
its abit like 'flattening' the image before you save it.

instead of having loads of layers (like sheets of paper) u flatten it so ur left with 'one piece of paper' if that makes sense!!!??

Calliebert, those are really good! Are you using a mirror and black fabric for the last one?
