Photos coming out blurred for Avatar!

I've always cropped and rsized my photos for my avatar, but been trying for ages to sort this out ..... the photo is blurred!!!!! Not done anything different, tried no cropping, tried cropping before and after resizing but nothing is working!!! Any suggestions???

Looks like the resizing has made it pixellated. Have you tried uploading without resizing or won't it let you? x

I would say the same thing as Sams mum.... Sometimes when you resize images it effects the quality. When you do make the changes to your image, can you try to save as and maybe look to see if your program gives you the option of photo quality?
