Ugh I think I have it 24 hours a day, every day. It feels like my esophagus is on fire so much so that it takes my breath away and is hard to breathe!! It wakes me up in the middle of the night at least a couple times every night.

Tums only do so much and I did take Zantac once (which worked miracles) but I really really do not want to take any medicine that I don't have to. Any other natural remedies?

It doesn't matter what I eat - it's always there- I've never experienced Heartburn before pregnancy!

Heartburn was my worst symptom with my first pregnancy and I have it this time too. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night because of it! I drink milk and that helps a lot for me. I took tums my first pregnancy, but it was way worse then.

Will be following this. My last pregnancy it didn't hit me until the end and was so bad I would throw up.

This time it's already here... yikes...

I hear milk helps. I get it too randomly. I'm not a huge fan of milk so I keep ice cream in my fridge. some women drink milkshakes. tums is good to use in pregnancy as well.

I have heartburn 24/7 too, if I don't lay a certain way at night it comes right up into my mouth causing me to have to bolt to the washroom, nothing helps, a sip of water lasts about 2.5 minutes although the never ending water causes never ending peeing. If anyone finds a cure, you will go down in history as my favorite person in existence.

No miracle cure I'm afraid but I've found coconut water really helps. I was drinking it anyway to help with the morning sickness and realised after a while that it was the only thing also helping the heartburn!

Chocolate almond milk is the only thing I have found to work for me

Milk is the only thing that worked with me.

I've had heartburn twice so far. Both times when I was eating a burrito from my fav mexican place. :(

Mine is that bad I have to take tablets twice a day. Apparently milk isn't good as it only masks it and then comes back few hours later. With my DD I drank pints upon pints of it, this time nothing but the tablets touch it.

Mine is so severe I have to take a Prilosec everyday. It is safe in pregnancy, and it is a Godsend! Now I never have heartburn. I can even eat spicy foods with no problems!

I know it's not nice taking tablets but I would really keep up with the Ranitadine. I had it from about 14 weeks until I had Isabella which was not fun. I was taking about 20 rennie every day as I couldn't cope with it but then found rantitadine. One a day was enough to stop it almost completely. Try not to eat spicy or rich foods and not lie down for at least two hours after eating. Drinking milk/ eating ice cream actually encourages more acid to be produced to compensate for the large quantity of alkaline product being consumed so makes it worse. Little sips of orange or pineapple juice can really help plus having a handful of almonds at night can help you control it so you can get a good sleep xxx

Thanks! I haven't tried drinking milk ...but def have been drinking tons of cold water as it relieves the burn for at least a second!

My OB says not to take ranitidane (otc heartburn meds) for more than 30 consecutive days. After I read that ...I was afraid to take it. Do you know why?

Be careful using milk to relieve it. It's been shown to temperately reduce heartburn only to make it come back worse. I know this is a fact for me. My mom told me to eat a raw potato, that didn't work. Usually I use Tums and drink plenty of cold water, if I have to I'll take Zantac. My doctor gave the okay on Zantac, but I use it as a last resort.

Really the best thing, in my experience, is to avoid the food that causes it. Which is almost everything it seems like. Most fresh vegetables, some fruit, and plain food keeps me from getting it. High fat content and a lot of seasoning causes me to get heartburn. Perhaps try to take Tums before you eat something?

Hope you find something that helps! I definitely know the pain.

I'd be interested to no as my dr just renewed my prescription for a further 60 days :-/

Milk is the only thing that works for me as well. It sucks, I'm sorry :(

Well I was advised to take it and I did for almost two trimesters. My baby girl had no problems at all so I don't understand why he would say that. It's what they advise to take here as it's only a single dose per day which works well. Xxx
