Please help me -- But please don't judge or take offence..

My son is strawberry blond and I get TONS of comments, but good ones! I get:
'Ooo! Look at that hair!' 'I'd kill for that color and high lights!' 'You can tell that boy has Irish in his veins, good lad!'

I'm very proud and I love my LOs hair. I'm actually scared it might go away as he gets older :(

Your baby is beautiful hun! xx

i have a slightly O/T question for everyone with ginger babies...what color was LOs hair at birth?

i'm a ginger but LO was born with almost black hair...its lightened a little but can it go red from here? i was thinking it cant because my hair was pretty much red off the bat as a baby...but can it go from almost black to red?

Red hair is rarely stigmatised anymore, I know loads of people who are envious of redheads! There was a point where we thought that Ivy was going to be ginger and I was sooo happy, but now it has gone blonde! Little ginger bubbas are gorgeous.

Really?! So the people that roll down their windows to shout abuse at me as I walk down the street are actually embracing my hair colour?!

The best thing you can do is tell her how gorgeous her hair is; to help her learn to love it. That element of self confidence is the best thing you can equip her with.
xxx

Uhhh why the pissiness? I was just saying that where I am from I have never seen anyone have a problem with redheads. And its true, red hair has become really popular recently.

I've always found redheaded people attractive, personally. I don't understand why some people are rude to them.

Maria was born with very dark hair then it turned blond and now it looks like it might have a touch of ginger in it, so yeah, its possible :)

my adorable red head..

My step-daughter has gorgeous ginger hair! I was hoping Millie would take after her sister but unfortunately she seems to have Mummy's boring brown ha ha! xxx

My daughter is a ginger, my husband Is a ginger and my cat is a ginger- I love ginger so much i have surrounded myself with them :-)

Seriously- I think if all you have to "worry" about id your baby's hair colour your very lucky...

I think it can look really beautiful tbh. My old school friend had ginger hair and she was very proud of it as its very unusual..even here in Scotland. She didnt get bulllied. I also think, sad to say, its way more accepted if its on a female. I think most of the stigma is aimed at boys. I can understand where you are coming from as i think this 'stigma' goes way back. My gran didnt trust my friend because where she came from [ Village in Tuscany] ginger hair was not accepted! I have no idea why and its a very old fashioned idea that has no basis whatsoever.
If in desperation when she is older..she can always change it..but im sure that it will never come to this. Teach her to be proud of her beautiful and unusual colour. I think it looks gorgeous personally.

my best friend is a red head and BEAUTIFUL she has never been picked on, yeah had the odd joke, but no different to a dumb blonde joke ect and it has never upset her. When she gets older if she doesn't like it then like the rest of us she will have the choice to colour it.

my little girl has a tint of red and Im hoping it stays. My toddler looked a bit ginger but is now blonde x

I never get why people are so bothered about their babies hairs tbh. And reading comments like, dont worry it may still change are a bit hurtful sorry! Its what a baby was born with why would you want it to change????

My eldest daughter has ginger hair and its beautiful, shes never had any problems with bullying but thats probably because i have gave her the confidence growing up that her hair is nothing to be ashamed of. She just gets called everyones favourite ginger now :haha:

OP your little girl is beautiful!

Some pics of my beautiful ginge...

Nikki, your daughter is absolutely stunning. I have serious hair envy right now :haha:

:haha: she actually wants to dye it more red! I used to tell her when she's 16 she can do what she wants. Now it's only 2 months away I'm starting to backtrack lol

Here's a couple pictures of my little red heads. Jacob is 8 (needs a hair cut) and Ryleigh is 5 months today.

xnewxmommyx your daughter is gorgeous!!! Definitely something to embrace and be proud of!!!

I've always loved redheads. I especially favored redheaded boys growing up!! so cute!

But it's funny...my mom has the same prejudice as you describe towards red hair. I figured it to be a generational thing...but we never made fun of redheads growing up.

TO further prove my point :haha:
