I went to the hv today and once again Lucas has gone up a centile.
hes always had a very big appetite but now I think I might have to curb it a little, I just know next month when we go back he will be off the scale.
hes now 24lbs and and almost on the 99.6 centile, he will be 8 months in a few days.

a daily amount of food for him is-

8am - Wheetabix and half a banana for breakfast
8oz bottle of milk

12 noon- Pureed veg and finger foods for lunch, could be bread, cheese, fruit or just whatever I have sometimes a tiny yoghurt too
8oz bottle of milk

dinner pureed meal with some sort of meat, literally anything but always homemade and what I think is healthy.
Natural yoghurt and apple
8oz bottle

then he has one night feed of about 5-7 oz

I thought I was doig really well as he used to have much more milk than this but hes still piling on the weight.

Health visitor recomends putting all his milk into sippy cups which might reduce his intake, and giving him more food in the hopes he will take less milk.

she said he needs 20oz of milk a day but some of this can come from yoghurts, cheese and cereal milk.
im just stressed, nothing I do works and he is going to be off the scale at next weight in.

hes 50th centil for height

Id probably stop pureeing his meals and give him proper food. Maybe start by giving him mince mashed textures. Might fill him up a bit more?

im not too much help my lol wont eat anything but breastmilk and bits of plain bread! lol

im sure your lo will even out once he's walking

we went from 75th centile to 50th for weight now that she's been racing around for a couple months xx

Thanks, when I say pureed it srill has lots of lumps its just not completely like what I would eat, I dont blend it though.
if hes eating pasta etc I just give him that like normal but chicken or something I would crush up until its small chunks.
I have tried to give him a bigger lunch today and he only took half his bottle so we shall see how it goes!!

I'd definitely try and drop at least one bottle - maybe the lunch time one and then i'd put half the amount in the one at dinner time if he really wants it or even lose that as well. If he had 8oz in the morning bottle and then 8oz in his bedtime one then with yoghurts and cheese he would be ok for his calcium intake. I'd just give him water with his meals. that should help but like a PP said, once he's on the move it will even out x

why is she saying he needs 20oz? did she get that from her hv manual. feed him what he wants hun it will even out. personally i wouldnt restrict food/milk for a baby. if hes eating it and happy just go with it.

edit i wouldnt even restrict a childs diet (if it was healthy food) just encourage them to be more active.

ps i was a fecking huge baby....i dont think i stopped eating but since i started walking at 13 months i have never been overweight.

I wouldn't curve anything. That sounds like a very healthy diet. Well... Maybe a little less milk but that is only because my son didn't drink that much milk ever. if yours is taking it, I probably wouldn't take it away. I am assuming your son doesn't walk yet. Once they start walking they don't sit down. He will start burning off more calories and will need the food to keep his energy up! Some babies are just bigger than others till they really get moving.

DS was always off the charts for height and was in the 99% for weight. All of a sudden, he started walking and is now off the charts for height but only 50% for weight! He didn't lose but once he started walking he stopped gaining so much.

He is 26 pounds at 13 months.

I wouldnt curb his intake at all, he sounds like a healthy, happy baby. My DS is nearly 10 months and 99th centile for height and weight. He has an identical diet to your LO apart from one less bottle. Your LO is still 50% centile for height so its not as if hes tiny and out of proportion or anything. Once he starts walking hes gonna lose loads of weight. x

ps Charlie is 28lb exactly
