I finally got through to the Maternity triage at the hospital last night. And they advised me to go down. I was there for about 3 n 1/2 hours and they sent me home as bloods hadn't come back. Baby was also hooked up to a heart beat monitor for 1 n 1/2 hours as the 30 minutes he was a cause for concern with inconsistent readings.

The hour following this he was much happier and doing a little crazy and kicking a lot and moving a lot. He was very quiet yesterday afternoon so they wanted to make sure he was happy.

They advised I would have my bloods back today and when I rang them at 12 o clock they then told me it would be after 2 o clock. It's now 2.44 and I still haven't heard back from them. I don't think they realise how frustrating it can be having to wait for information..

Oh I know what you mean about the waiting, when we went in on Friday we were told the results would be in on the Saturday, waited all day Saturday for them to call, we couldn't get through to them, Sunday was the same, saw cmw on Monday she advised we go in if I'm still itching. So we went in on Tuesday, turned out the results weren't due back until later that day and they said they'd call if there were any concerns but not if everything was fine! So frustrating waiting all that time only to find out we were told the wrong info in the first place!

Never did hear anything so can only assume everything is ok, the itching has calmed down a lot now as well which is good. Hope you get your results soon!

Finally got my results and they are all clear.. if the itching gets any worse then I am to ring them back up or even see cmw next week.. (if she is there)

They said just keep an eye on things.. legs are a mess and looks like other half was right about me 'over reacting' x

:hugs: glad to hear everything is ok. You definitely weren't over reacting, it's a good thing you got checked, if you had it and it wasn't picked up then it could affect your baby. At least now you can relax.

thanks for reading and replying :) hope the rest of the pregnancy goes fast and well for both of us :) xx

Definitely not over reacting - better to be safe! Will they do follow up bloods? Mine were okay then they re did a week later and they had gone right up, it was only because of an overly cautious midwife they checked twice x x

They said they were really low and there was no cause for concern on any of them.. I will mention to midwife when I see her next week xx

Hopefully. I have calamine aqueous cream and that is majorly helping. Thankfully x

My bile acids have gone from 10 to 29 in 6 days, and my ALT's are now 318 :-(

Was given 2 steroid injections to help mature babys lungs and been started on Urso tablets too... back tomorrow for more bloods.

c section booked for 38 weeks but if the levels keep rising they will do it earlier... scared :-(

i had severe itching all over my body last week but had my bloods done and they were fine... still itching a little bit but not as much! think it was just hormones! but i was shocked that no-one tells you to look out for this because i had no idea itching could be so serious, i left it almost a week before going to the doctors because i felt stupid!

I agree, although it does mention in your green maternity notes (if you're in the uk) about things which you should go and get checked for (such as reduced movement etc) and itching is one of the things they say you should get checked out. However I was never made aware that my notes contained such information, it was only when I was looking through them one day that I realised they weren't just filled with information for the medical professionals, but also had information which pregnant women would find useful as well. I think the midwives should make a point of telling you this as some people don't bother looking at their notes at all.

I had OC with both pregnancies, resulting in induction for both; 37 weeks for Emma and 39 weeks for Katie.

Just wanted to add that if you have severe itching and your bloods come back fine, and you continue to itch, you need your bloods repeating. It can take time before your levels rise despite the itching.

I know it can be very scary, so if anyone wants to ask me any questions feel free. I have two lovely healthy girls now, despite having OC both times.

Thankyou for this.

My itching calmed down a little but have been using aqueous cream.. did start again though but not as severe.. I am back at the midwife tomorrow so will speak to her about it then as my discharge notes etc from the hospital are all in my notes x

Yes definitely, ask for the bloods to be repeated. I was itching to the point I was having cold baths at 3am, I was itching myself raw, and my first lot of bloods were only 3 above the acceptable range (bile acids were 17, I think up to 14 is ok). Because of this though the tests were repeated and next time they were up to 39, but the itching was no worse. I think it takes a while for it to show in your bloods.

I second all that Samenka has said. I had OC in both pregnancies and was induced both times. In my second pregnancy I KNEW the OC had returned but it took a while for it to show up in my bloods.

Samenka....
I just read that you had OC in both pregnancies.
I had OC with my first and am concerned about the prospect of getting it again. Wondered if I could ask your advice on a couple of things? :)
