i have been off of depo for 3 years!

i have 17 day cycles and i cant get pregnant!

Dr's just give me blood tests and do nothing with them because everything seems 'normal'

What do i do ?? :( Im dying here :(

Honestly, I would start charting to see 1) if you are ovulating, and 2) if you are ovulating see how long your luteal phase is (the amount of time after you ovulate). It's pretty well documented that a luteal phase under 10 days isn't enough to allow you to get and stay pregnant without the help of some medication.

So either you are not ovulating, or you are ovulating early, or you have a short luteal phase. The only way you will be able to tell what's going on though is by taking your temperature every morning and using a website like fertilityfriend.com to chart it.

If you have been trying over a year they have to refer you to a specialist, demand referral, you cycles are way to short so that needs to be sorted before you can even sort your fertility, i think anything under 24 days is considered short and should warrant investigation, dont give up with the doctors, harrass the hell out of them until they are sick of seeing you and they will refer you, good luck xx

I agree. harass the DRs. 17 days is extremely short and should be looked into. there are also herbal remedies that can help regulate your cycle - like vitex. you could look into those.

good luck, i hope you get your help soon!

I definitely think you need a new doctor. I have heard of many complications after using depo. Good luck!

I asked a fellow member here what her experience was coming off Depo. This is what she said:

There's a lot of ways I can offer you advice. First is, you have to start charting. You say you have 17 day cycles but are they ovulatory or annovulatory? It could just be withdrawal bleeding from the exogenous progesterone (the depo) still lingering. The only way to know if you are ovulating is to chart. Learn about cervical position, mucus and basal body temperature. You have to commit to this and you can't just do it for a month and expect to know your cycle, it takes a pattern. Further, I told my doctor I was doing this and noticed I ovulated later than most. He was checking my post ov progesterone too early, so because of my charting, he pushed back that blood work and we were able to more effectively monitor my post ov progesterone. Also look into SMEP and discuss that with your partner, it takes 2 to make a baby and your partner must be equally committed!

Good luck!

Even if you find out wether you are ovulating or not though its impossible to get pregnant on 17 day cycles so it won't help
