Hi All

We live in Sevenoaks, Kent and are therefore in the West Kent PCT. We've been told that we can go on the waiting list for ICSI but that there is a 2-year wait so we're considering paying for a cycle privately. I can't find any information on the PCT's website about the rules relating to private treatment while on the NHS list - does anyone know whether we would be struck off the list or lose a "go" on NHS if we pay for a private cycle?

xx

Hi MrsR32
Here's the template
https://www.infertilitynetworkuk.co...ation/England/Template criteria -03 12 08.pdf

As you can read, you are entitled to two NHS go if you've had one private, and one NHS if to private. I am not sure about doing it simultaneously though. I am very surprised that the waiting list is 2 years long though, is it the consultant who said that? It doesn't sound right at all ( IVF falls under the rules of 18 weeks)

In my trust IVF is over 2 year wait and does def not on the under 18 week rule. In fact most trusts if you look at the wait times are over 18 months......

Thanks FBbaby, that's a great help, exactly what I was looking for on the PCT's website!

I think Crypto1976 is right though, the waiting lists are generally a couple of years. My cousin was told her waiting list was 4 years!

I will double-check all of this with the consultant but it looks like we're going to try to go private. Wish me luck!

Thanks for posting this MrsR32. I'm just down the road from you in Tonbridge!

Hi Laila Fae, good to hear from someone local! What's your situation? Have you had any tests done yet?

Without going into details of my position, there are three providers available for patients in West Kent, The Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury, the South East Fertilty Clinic in Tunbridge Wells, and Chelsfield Hospital in Orpington. I can confirm that all operate within 18 weeks of referral.

If you would like to speak with someone specifically about this, IM me and will let you know their details.

Good luck xx

They are private but contracted to provide NHS treatment too (for Kent patients) :hugs:

I've only had the 21 day progesterone test and DH's SA analysis has come back with low morphology.

DH is taking steps to try to improve that then we'll check him out again in 3 or 4 months if we've not been successful.

Hi FB Baby. I'm in Tunbridge Wells. I'm having IUI at the moment at the Chaucer in Canterbury. I'm aware of SEFC in Kent as I'm a local NHS employee. But was not aware that they are contracted to treat NHS patients. Do you know when this started. I'm thinking that if this cycle is not successful at Chaucer, I might ask to be transferred locally for next cycle as it would be easier for appts and work.

Hi myboo1971, I've replied to you in a private message.
