I think the reason it goes up is CTC is for things like nappies, clothes, food etc for LO and the increase in IS will help towards the increase in electric bill (more washing, sterilising etc so more electric used), water bill (more baths, bottles made etc) and if you have gas that too (your more likely to crank the heating up with a LO).

I am quite aware what the benefits are and who they are for thankyou very much.

I was TOLD by my midwife, the jobcentre, other people who are/were pregnant or have children that when you go from being a 22 year old to a 22 year old WITH A CHILD, the amount of income support you get GOES UP.

Which happens to be FACT and has now happened.

If you have an issue with single mothers on benefits, (which it seems apparent to me that you do), I suggest you get out of this forum.

And in answer to your question, "why do you need more money for yourself when you have had a baby?"....if there is money on offer that is going to make me and my son's life any easier (because right now it really couldn't get any harder)...then I will damn well accept it! Who the hell are you to judge me and decide where you think my money should go and how much you think I should get?

If you have a problem with single mothers, why not pick on the fathers that put them in this situation.

for some reason i have only just seen this 4 months after you have posted your reply, get a grip! i am no snob! no snob what so ever! i simply replied to your question, i am entitled to write what ever the hell i like, if you dont like it then thats tough luck! you know nothing about me, nothing on this earth so how the hell you have got the right to call me a snobby witch is beyond me, i have no problem with single mothers at all what ever gave you that impression..hmmm making an assumption i can see!!!

It's funny how it's the single mothers who UNDERSTOOD, who gave me good advice and polite answers and the others who didn't have a clue because they're not in this situation who gave me the snobby remarks.

and it was no such thing as a snobby remark i made, take a closer look at your own posts before you even go there and slate others for things they have said..silly girls with silly minds, says it all

Yeah Dannii - just ignore Katieeee - she was pregnant at the same time as me and i saw lots of her posts - she was always arguing with people and posting things that wud cause controversy. As you said you were only answering her question and i dont see how she can call you snobby when she doesnt know you.
