Proof of identity etc

Hi Ladies,

I was just wondering if anyone who receives child benefit and/or child tax credits etc could help me.
I am all over the place at the moment and we are due to be moving house soon. I'd like to have all relevant paperwork i need for claiming the above benefits to hand so i do not have to hunt around looking for them at a later date.
So basically can anyone inform me what i will have to send off to claim once baby is here, ie - Proof of i.d (passport), proof of address ( do i have to send of utility bills in my name etc or do i need to be on or do they check the electoral register) babys birth certificate, wage slips ( how many). So if anyone knows which ones of these if any i will have to send it would be greatly appreciated, thanks x

nothing they will ask you(but they dont have to ask you) to send babys birth certificate
if they wont ask you they will check themselfs in your local register office.

you have to send babys birth certificate for child benefit then wait for child benefit to be sorted before applying for tax credits as they will want your child benefit number x

Make sure you call tax credits and get the forms before baby arrives. They sometimes take a few weeks for them to send out to you. It will be easier if you have them ready for when the time comes. All you usually need for that is babies birth certificate (not sure if its the same for everyone, but we had to send it)

The forms for Child Benefit will come in the Bounty pack the hospital gives you after the birth. They usually need the birth certificate for this too. We got two copies so we could do them both at once. If you dont have your child benefit number yet when you apply for tax credits i think you can leave it blank and give it to them when youve got it.
