Can you use the doppler too much? If I use it everyday will it hurt the baby? This is all new to me, I am prego with my 1st baby. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Have a read of these recent threads talking about the same kinda thing :)

funny you ask. i was just at my doctors today. she is the high risk specialist i have to see due to twins. i brought my doppler to show her (a hibebe) and asked her the same question. told her i use it at least once a day. she said i can use it ten times a day if i want and it will not harm the babies. she just said to make sure i dont ever get stressed if i can't find a heartbeat, and if that happens just to drop in and let her check it out. but as far as safety for babies..she said go for it and have fun as often as i want!

ditto, most people say use it seinsibly and it's fine, inc my reluctant midwife!

It's one of those things where there's no definitive answer. Most people think that scans/dopplers have been proven to be safe, but the truth is that they have never been proven to harm the baby - this means that while there is no proof that they harm the baby, there is also no proof that they are 100% safe either. As with most things in pregnancy and parenting, it's a judgement call.

Personally, I like to keep things to a minimum just in case, so I have the two scans and the MW listens to baby at anti-natal appointments, but that's it. As I said though, that's just me.

I used mine about once a day when I first got it, and have pretty much only been using it once a week now that I feel movement. I've talked to a few doctors about it and no one has had a problem yet! It is just one of those things that is a judgement call. I'd say you are fine though!! But that is just my own personal opinion. :dohh::hugs:
