This is probably a really thick question but never mind!

We only have a one bed flat so baby will be in with us, which is fine as I know most newborns are in with mummy and daddy to start with anyway. However my question is, when you get up to do the nightfeeds will you stay in your room and feed while your OH is still asleep or will you take baby into another room to feed so as not to disturb OH too much? I assume baby will cry at somepoint therefore disturbing OH.
The main reason I ask is because I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy a nursing chair to go in our room. We are very limited on space and if I'm not going to use it because I will go into the living room to feed then I don't want to buy it.

What will you all do?

I'd probably go to another room just to be nice to my hubby. He does a lot for me, might as well let him get some rest :)

It's a hard one, I will be having baby in with me for a while as my OH is going away for a few months just after the birth so it will be easier for me, but before he goes and when is back I will probably feed in the baby's room to minimise disturbing him.

I always just breastfed in the same room as my oh can sleep through anything and there wasnt much crying anyway!

I fed my son in the bedroom as it's where I was comfortable and relaxed and hubby would ask how I was getting on. However he is quite a light sleeper and some people seem to require more sleep. I plan to do the same this time.

He will probably wake sometimes when the baby cries to be fed and that is unavoidable, I dont think the actual feeding of the baby is the noisy part, its more the crying before feeding and getting the baby settled again - neither of which you can avoid if the baby is sleeping in the same room as you. I'll probably stay in the room to feed him and if he won't settle then i'll take the moses basket out of the room to settle him before bringing him back in, he will be sleeping in that until we move him to the cot in his own room. my OH is a heavy sleeper and wants to share the feeding anyways so shouldnt be too much of an issue.

My OH can get stuffed, Leni is half his too. I will be propping myself up in bed with a dim light on whether OH sleeps or not isn't my concern  x

Well i've always fed the baby sitting up in bed, my hubby really doesnt mind.
In fact our routine is one changes the baby & keeps him calm till the other one
heats the bottle up then feeds him while the other one lies down again.
We take turns each of this each night ;)

Thanks for all the swift replies! I think I will go for the chair but just try to find one that doesn't take much space.

I will be feeding baby in the room

OH could sleep through a bomb going off.

when my dd was first born I used to go downstairs to feed her, but eventually i found it used to wake her up too much so ended up just breastfeeding her in bed. not sure what i'll do with this one though!

Think I'll be going into the living room - we're in a 1 bed flat too. My OH is a light sleeper and works long hours so I don't want him being kept up! I'll see how it is though - it might be noisier getting up to get out of the room etc.
If it's really bad OH might have to sleep on couch a couple of times a week with me and beanie in bedroom or vice versa xx

My husband is SUCH a light sleeper...so am I so I will for sure be taking baby to another room :)

^^
What she said!

Plus, he said we had ''no need'' for a feeding chair, so we will see how long it takes to change his mind. :haha:

I also think that if you're going out of the room and turning light on and whatnot it will be harder for the baby to settle after feeding.

It's best to keep everything to a munimum i have found,
low lights etc..so they get into a wee routine of what gets
done at night feeds. I dont intend getting up & walking
about from room to room :/

il be feeding in the same room as OH he will sleep thru anyway if he knows its my turn to do the feeds

I'll be feeding baby in the same room too although if baby gets too upset on a particular night I will probably take him into another room to walk around and try and settle him/her :flower:

I was wondering the same thing, I thought I settled on feeding him in bed with us but if he spits up or vomits, I don't really want it on the bed... Then I thought I would just buy a rocking chair and use it but I don't think it will fit in our bedroom. So I'm still not sure where I will be feeding and changing LO when he arrives. I'll probably somehow stuff a rocking chair in our room... :) we'll see what works!

my OH goes away every other week, so regardless if he's home or not i'll be feeding the baby in the room! my OH won't mind anyways. he'll be too excited to care :)
