I would love to know out of all the IVF mummies on BnB how many tries they had before success ( even if that sadly ended early)

Just noticed I'm the only one to post in here. We were incredibly lucky for it to work first time.

I met a woman this morning with BG twins and that was after her 6th attempt. She'd got PG at 2 other attempts and sadly miscarried.

Hi Helen,
Mind if i ask your age when u got your IVF done?
Will doctor increase the dose of the injection if there're only a few folicle?

Hi

I was 33 during the IVF...34 when they were born.

Not sure about increasing the dose but I would imagine so. I think that's why they do the scans and AG had her dose increased during IUI recently. I'd guess it's the same.

Helen,
Do you experience any side effect from injections?
How many eggs retrieved?
Blood test on CD3 is for what?

Hi strawberry199

You may find it helpful to read my diary https://www.babyandbump.com/ttc-journals/403-diary-ivfer.html for side effects. Nothing that couldn't be handled and when I look back it's all a distant blur. I still have a bruised bum from some of the injections!

We had 22 eggs.

Are you in the testing phase still at the moment? I think I had a blood test on CD3 to check the piturity gland was doing what it should. I didn't have a blood test on day 3 of IVF.

Are you about to go through IVF?

Helen

Helen,
I'll have a doc appointment on next month. Probably need to cut off the damaged tubes and start IVF..
I'm so glad to see your 1st time IVF with success..
I hope i'll be the next...

Is that means ICSI is more preferable for IVFer? because with inject sperm to each eggs, it won' be waste of the eggs compare to IVF??

Hey Strawberry,

ICSI is used when you're dealing with male factor infertlitly, ususually when the motility is low, or the morphology is really low or the sperm is damaged (in our case all 3...jackpot...NOT!!!). So if your DH's sperm is fine then I would say that you'd be doing conventional IVF. So everything is the same except your eggs will be self fertilised in a petri dish.

oh.. i see.. Thanks FJL..
Hubby was panic when he had a sperm test last few months.. and only able to produce very little of spermies...
I scare that he will panic & over worried again while we are doing IVF in the next few months...:dohh::dohh:

I got my positive at my 3rd try (ICSI) but 2 of my colleagues, they got theirs that their 1st try. Statistically, I read somewhere that the average is from 3 to 6 tries before a positive.

I'm leaving a comment so it stays in my subcriptions x x x

Oh and I know someone had it happen on their 6th attempt x

In one of the books I read it said that 80% of women get pregnant within the first 3 attempts.

3 attempts sounds reasonable enough.....even though I'm praying with all my might that we're successful first try :flower:

Good luck with the talk Maaybe! When do you hope to start?

Hi

BFP on first ICSI attempt. Had 2x 4 cell embies put back, 1 survived and is now my gorgeous 3 month old girl!!

Good luck
xx

hi all, i had 2 rounds of ivf/icsi and got a :bfp: on second try, sadly i mc early on but gave me hope that it can work. I have heard on average it takes 3 trys for a bfp but i suppose it just depends on the reason you need the ivf in the first place x

weve done 3 cycles on total.all egg sharing cycles.1st bfn,2nd bfp but mc 6+6,3rd bfp with twin boys

aaww hayley1982 how sweet are your little boys x
