Does anybody know if you can tell gender at 16 weeks from a potty shot that taken from above,not underneath?

It depends on the clarity of the ultrasound machine you are using... but with decent equipment yes. When determining gender they use both profile view and your typical potty shot to determine sex . By 14 weeks the "nub" has already begun a noticeable transition but most recommend waiting until 16 weeks if you don't have an experienced tech.

Thank you for replying.i had a scan yesterday at 16+2 but they wouldn't tell me gender because it was an nhs one.the sonographer was lovely in all fairness and when she measured the femur,she froze the image.both femurs were in the shot and baby's legs were wide open!! It looked like a potty shot but I'm not sure if it was from underneath the baby or from a birds eye view of you know what I mean? Xx

I know exactly what you mean. They usually want to wait until 18-20 weeks... those elective ultrasounds at 14+ weeks are magical for those of us that are impatient lol. I'd be happy to look at the image and help you guess .

Oh darn! For my son, by 12 weeks it was obvious as it stuck straight up and was sizable. I kept hoping it would flatten out LOL. By 16 weeks you would definitely notice a little something sticking right up.

I have booked a gender scan for Monday evening,curiosity has gotten the better of me lol xx

Oh good! You'll have to tell me what you're having. Mine is this Saturday... I had it for Monday originally but moved it a few days closer because I'm dying to know. Three days away still feels like an eternity... I'm worse than a small child hahaha. Are you routing for a boy or girl?

Monday was the earliest I could get ��.i wasn't even bothered about finding out tbh,yesterday's scan has made me so curious though and it's all I can think about now lol.ive got 2 boys so a girl would be nice but I honestly don't mind tbh.

You will have to let me know too please!! Have you got a preference at all or just super curious like me? Xx

I want a little girl so much. I already used my little boy name so I'm going to have a hell of a time finding another name if it's a boy. I feel like the little girl is better for me.... but a little boy would be better for my son lol. Two brothers less than 2 years apart would be a lot of fun. How old are your boys? My son Archer turned 1 in February.

Haha,I know what you mean,boys names are soooooo hard!! I've got Ben who's just turned 12 and Harry who's 5 next week so quite a big age variation.my oldest really wants a sister as he has a half brother aswell,don't think my youngest cares though bless him lol

Just thought I would update........ Had my can this evening and its a BOY!!!! I'm sooooo shocked,I honestly believed that it was a little girl!! Deffo no mistaking it tho,it's deffo a boy lol xx
