Questions about IVF procedure- Can you pay extra?

I think ou only get one nhs attempt if you actually give birth. I think once you have a child thats it. Is that what you mean? I could be wrong, but thats my understanding.

I would like twins as my oh will only agree to one pregnancy as he is 48. I would be very grateful however for one.

The 3 attempts is if the first 2 are unsuccesful. XX

Once you have a child you get no more treatment on the NHS. So however many babies you have in your first successful treatment, you have to pay if you want more.

I think the dangers of multiple births, for mother and baby, need to be looked at carefully against the benefits. In an ideal world we would all like an instant family - twins please, one of each - but unfortunately it doesn't always work like that! I agree with crypto, one would do fine for me atm.

I also agree one would be great.

I'm not being ungrateful for the options we have, I don't want to come across that way. We are just trying to find out the best possible options available for us as we would like to fully understand everything before being put on the IVF waiting list by our FS in January.

I really appreciate the league table - where did you get that from?

We have still got the clomid to give a try first but we'd like to make sure we have a plan in place to try and refer back to on the bad days. Something which gives us hope.

Good luck with your blood test Mrs G!

I got the latest list through my work, but it was also in The Herald and I attach the whole link discussing the postcode lottery that is IVF.

I am at pretty much the same stage as you. I have just finished my first month of clomid. I am really excited about that. Hopefully neither of us needs the IVF option.

I was also thinking about the fact you had wanted several IVFs potentially, it cost aboy£4000-£5000 a cycle here. I wasnt sure if you knew that.

We live in the US and put back 3. We got pregnant with twins. The only reason why the doctor agreed to do three is because 2 were not very good quality. I'm at the end of my twin pregnancy and would highly suggest that reconsider putting back 3. The risk of triplets is just too high and the pregnancy would be really hard. Plus, a high majority of triplets end up with developmental delays and physical problems as well due to being so premature. However, with that said, only you know what's best for you! Best of luck to you.
