Red line on butt crack = dilation?

Ladies.. break out your butt mirrors!

So I was checking out my butt (lol) and saw I have this red line going right up my butt crack! I remembered reading before in some birth stories that midwives use this line to tell if you're dilated and googled it: https://www.scienceandsensibility.org/?p=5547

Anyone else have this? I am pretty sure I'm not fully dilated, lol, but the red line goes all the way up. Maybe it gets a lot darker during labour??

I figured some people just have that - I am very curvy with a big bum, and always assumed all the extra tissue caused it, haha

Its when it goes purple... although mine looks a redy purple and im not that dilated lol

I didn't read the article yet, but a line like that can also stem from really bad hemorrhoids as well.

Everyone has a red line inside their cracks just from sweating and whatnot. But dilation, in many women but not all, can be pretty accurately gauged by a creeping purple line. It's really dark and strange looking. It's certainly possible you could be a little bit dilated, but you likely wouldn't be able to see it noticeably until you're in labour. But yes, it does work and if more midwives knew how to use it, it would make labour so much easier (no cervical checks, which are horrible! most painful part of giving birth for me) and less risk of infection.

My line comes up about 2 inches and is purplish he says. Said it was def more purple than red. Does that mean I'm like 4 cm dilated cause that would be great
