Hello Ladies,

I've try give as much information as I can whilst keeping in short!

Thursday 17th September 2009:
I advised my line manager at work that I was pregnant - I only done this as I needed to go for an emergancy scan that day. When I returned to work my line manager had informed the manager of our department and as it was good news the both looked at my scan picture and congratulated me.
Prior to this though we received an email earlier in the week to advise that department heads were looking into reducing costs etc and that necessary meetings will be carried out over the coming week.

Friday 18th September 2009:
My department manager was in a meeting with our finance director and this appeared to be the meeting about reducing costs etc etc.

Monday 21st September 2009:
Myself and the lady I work alongside were pulled into a meeting to be advised that our jobs are at risk of redundancy and one of us face redundancy. We were told to come up with ideas as an alternative to making one of redundant.
We are part of a team of 13+ staff yet two of us were selected??

Does this all sound a bit dodgy to you? I'm certain I'm the one who will be made redundant because of my pregnancy. I'm a bloody good worker, always busy, always on time, I keep my head down and do my work. I've only ever had a week of sick because of a miscarriage and they allowed that to be taken as bereavement so I still got paid for the time off. I know I'm on the lowest wage in the building so I'm cheap labour yet I face losing my job?
Any advice would be great or even if you could point me in the direction of some sort of law forum where I could get help?

xx

That sounds similar to what happened when I was newly pregnant, except it was my collegue that went - she was pt I was not.

Are you the only 2 in a certain position or are there others who are in the same job role? If so they should be considered to. Also they have to score you, based on performance, time keeping, job ability etc.

Is it a large company? I would recommend you speak to ACCAS. There are rules and procedures that they have to legally follow regarding redundancy
