I had my lap yesterday and now recovering from an emotional pain. Both my tubes were severely damaged and unrepairable!! I was told by my gyne that I wouldnt conceive naturally, So he referred me to a FS to find out about IVF.

OK so maybe were not at the end of the road but why do I feel like it?? I know that I cant afford IVF!!! ITs just not possible to fork out $6,000!!

I would love to tak to those who have gone through IVF and who could tell me if they have received funding. I would appreciate any info I can get from all you strong ladies out there. I just feel so lost and in pain that I cant give my fiancee a baby without a challenge. He tells me not to stress about having a baby until later. but I dont want to stop. I will do whatever it takes!!

I would also like to hear IVF success stories. I need some encouragement!!

Hi there, I just want to say I'm a sorry about your news, it must be a real shock. But there are still options and IVF works for thousands of people. I am about to start mine this week. We have unexplained infertility, but I am 40 and I think age is a factor too with me. Good luck! I hope you get a lot of support from those close to you. Greta. xx

I've spent about that much and have tried about 5 different doctors. I think if you want to get IVF it depends on your age and how long you have tried to conceive. Isn't IUI an option for you too?

IUI isn't an option if your tubes are blocked/damaged unfortunately.

Hi hun, we were in a very similar situation, after a LAP with known PCOS we were also told we had blocked tubes and couldn't conceive naturally. On the bright side we were so very lucky to conceive through our first cycle of IVF, it was expensive...and I'm not sure about US medical aid, but shop around, as the difference between clinics can be thousands of dollars. A lot of ppl offer payment plan and advise so it might be worth asking them also.

Lots of luck.

Yes, you might want to consider traveling too. Colombia and Panama both have IVF options, and a ticket might cost about $500

Try not to worry i have been thru the same thing.
Rememeber IVF was invented for women with blocked tubes.
I was told in niv that i needed ivf after endo had damaged mu tube. i didnt even know i had endo so you can imagine how i must have felt,
The good knews is that you now know and you can do something,
There are a few things you can do to help yourself:

try acupuncture
improve your diet etc ready for ivf. It tales 3 months to nake new eggs so you need to do this now
there is a link on the thread on how to imprive the quality of your eggs.

i have just had my 1st ivf, the drugs didnt work for me BUT thats because i donated my eggs to my sis a few years ago and this time they gave me the wrong drugs!!
so i only got 1 egg and im in the 2ww

You have had a huge shock but try to be positive ( hard i know) and do what you can to prepare your body for the ivf

good luck :)

Thank you all!! I so need the encouragement!! I will start with a FS and go from there. At least I will know what I need to work towards. Its so weird but I just know IVF will work for me, but its just the $$$ that I'm worried about. But I am going to start saving now. Ladies keep me updated on your journey through IVF.

Baby dust to us all!!!

hi babywisher, I just wanted to add that some states have funding for IVF through grants. I live in NY and there is a state funded program that you can apply for if you are going through your first IVF and don't have insurance coverage. Check to see if your state has that.
Also, I just went through my first IVF treatment and got a BFP! It's very early days, so I don't know what will happen next, but it's exciting that it seems to have worked at least in getting me that, which I've never seen before in my life.
good luck, you will see your way through this.

Hello ladies!!! Call me crazy but I know I am only 2 days after my lap and im dealing with such an emotional stress but OH and I have already scheduled to see a FS...I know it may be too soon and I should heal from surgery and heal this emotional pain but I just cant sit back and feel that our chance of having a baby is over.

I was suprised to get such a quick appt (tomorrow). We just want to find out everything about IVF so that we can prepare and work toward our miracle!!

Am I crazy???

JEEZE no you are not crazy., I started my research into clinics and by the end of the week had booked 2 appointments.!

Trust me you will feel alot better, at the moment you are dealing with alot of stuff.

You're not crazy at all. I was the same, I have just had my first IVF and find out in one week whether I'm pregnant!! We had to go through IVF (ICSI) due to male infertility. My husband felt like you, that he couldn't give me a baby without a massive struggle, especially since it's much more physical for the women.

But all I want is a baby with him and I'd do anything to achieve that. I don't blame him at all and your fiance wont blame you either. The day we got our news we were devastated. But I just thought right... I got straight on the phone and made an appointment too!!! We started the process straight away. If it gives you peace of mind at all then you're doing the right thing

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Hello ladies!!

We went to see the FS today for a consult. The office was really nice and the people there were so professional. We met with the Dr and he explained the IVF process which wasnt as bad as I imagined. It would take 6 weeks from start to finish which seemed very do able. Alot of our questions had been answered and I feel a little piece of mind. Its going to be very expensive but we are going to start saving now.

Thank you ladies for all your support!!!

Today I heard from a friend who got IVF in Israel. I wish my Dr. would say it's going to work with IVF. But there seems to be very little hope for me
