I used to make this reindeer food recipie with the children I looked after...

Fill a little bag with

1 cup of oats, add some glitter or sugar sprinkles. Tie with a ribbon and add this poem

Inside this special package, is a treat,
It contains magical reindeer food
and here is what you do.
Sprinkle this magical reindeer food
carefully on the ground.
On Christmas Eve if you’re lucky
Santa's reindeer will come around.
But here's a secret I have to tell,
one you must try to keep.
That Santa's reindeer only come
when you are fast asleep.
So quickly put your jammies on
and get a story read,
Then sprinkle this magic treat outside
and hurry off to bed!

I do this for josh , but we sprinkle it on the path outside our house for the reindeers to find us. He loves doing it!
He does go a little OTT with throwing it everywhere mind

i was advised NOT to use glitter incase the birds eat it as the glitter can harm them, we used "hundreds and thousands" (cake decorations) when we made it alst year.
