Rice cereal in formula bottle makes baby sleep up to 8 hrs?!

I read that it can make babies sleep up to 8 hours!!!!!!!! I will call this a miracle if its true!!

I am supplementing my baby with formula as I have low supply.

I would love to do this, of course, after asking the Ped, but thought of asking this in here to see if anyone has done it.

ive heard that ceral in a bottle is not reccomended! some babies sleep up to 8 hours anyway, if ya lucky hahaha. xxx

I don't think it makes them sleep any longer. Hannah's had cereal since 3.5 months (not in the bottle) but spoon-fed, she ate quite a bit but still woke up for at least one bottle

I dont think its recommended to put it into the bottle because of the risk of the baby choking

I wouldnt give it yet, it will constipate your baby. I gave it to try and help with her reflux... but that was at 2 months. And I stopped to change formulas and just eneded up spoon feeding her just before 3 months. And she did sleep longer when I started spoon feeding her.

It's not recommended as it has been linked with SIDs. Something to do with when bubs sucks, as a teat hole isnt big enough for the rice to get through easily they get tired very easily from sucking and fall asleep before they are full

i too believe its not recommended as it could be a choking hazard, imo food often doesn't help sleeping through, maddi is being weaned since 6months but has slept through since 6weeks, hungry baby formula and a bed time routine worked for us x

Its one of those our mothers would have done it because their mothers told them to... not because it really actually worked or was good for babies.

I believe its just a myth.

Talk to your ped anyway, but I'm 99% sure its just a theory.

Although, if the ped says it wont hurt, if you feel comfortable doing it, give it a go... and report back
