Hi all

I work for sainsburys and i'm wanting to know if these tests are good?

i use to use there old ones but for some reason they stopped them and brought out the new ones but they are made with blue dye.

has anyone used these? are they any good?

thanks xxx

No stay clear of any blue dye test unless youve had a clear pos on a pink dye.

hi

i agree
dont go near the blue dye tests, i used 4 blue cross sainsburys ones, all had blue crosses on them! i was not preggers!!!!!!!! very bad tests i complained x

Oh right well i will contact head office when i go in next and say to them for sure. i want there old tests back they are brilliant!! xx

I used the new blue ones and they were fine. Not sure why blue dye gets so much bad press I've NEVER had a false positive or duff one in any brand and I'm a poasaholic! I've peed on all types . Seems like everyone finds fault with every test on here so it doesn't seem to matter what you use so go ahead with what you can get hold of hon it's fine they all work if you are pregnant at the end of the day. The only thing with the sainsbury's new one is they aren't that sensitive and Clearblue gave me a much better line to start with, better than FRER too.

Good luck hope you get your :bfp: soon.

I don't know much about Sainsberry's, but I personally don't see the harm in giving them a try :)

I was getting barely there lines on FRER and when I tried a blue dye the same day it was an unmistakable positive - confirmed this morning with a darker line on a FRER and a DIGI. . .from that experience I know that blue-dyes can be very sensitive, and they work if they are used and read correctly.

Don't dig them out of the trash, for one :) That's the mistake most people make that I believe gives the blue-dyes such a bad rap.

Second, if the line is thick and solid, it's probably a BFP. If it's dark to one side, or leans to the left, or has weird splotches, it's an evap.

That's my take :) I say, give it a try!

 Congrats on your pregnancy :yipee:

most tests work if your pregnant,

blue dyes do give bad evaps, trust me, mine came up in mins, i done quite a few as well. everyone who saw was saying congrats to me, i wasnt preggers.

they fall when ur not preggers and they give off a thin line, which when ur trying to concieve any line is good lol...pink dye does not give off so many evaps excluding the cheap strips, i am a poas a holic tried them all LOL xxx

Sorry you got nasty evaps :*(

I just came across this post... last Thursday I did one of the new sainsbury's one's with the blue cross. After the time limit (and I know not to look), there was a faint blue line. I took another one on Saturday morning, FMU, and a faint line came up within the 10 mins. It actually came up straight away and then faded a bit but you could clearly see it although very, very faint before the 10 minute mark.

Now, I've read a lot about blue dye tests and evaps. So i thought I'd test my last one with water - I'm not mental, lol - I just wanted to see what happened as it dried. Anyway, no faint line, no evap. Anyone else tried this?! Or am i the only weirdo!

I'm waiting til tomorrow and will do another.

Personally, and not to upset anyone but they do say a line is a line and if you get a +ve result before the time limit, followed by -ve tests... I would say thats a missed miscarriage, i'm sorry. I've had 4 miscarriages, sometimes I wouldn't even get a +ve urine test.

Baby dust to all x

But how would that explain my situation? I am on my first cycle after coming off the pill. I thought that I had O'd on CD11 and so after the 2WW I used a blue dye test. It came up with a cross line within the time limit. I tried another one and got the same thing.

However, I am now on CD50 of the same cycle - no :witch: and no pregnancy (I have used lots of tests of different types). I started temping half way though and it turns out I have only just O'd (I'm now 6dpo).

So I had a positive test on blue dye when I had not even O'd. That is not a missed miscarriage, that is a faulty test. Indeed - I rang the company and they sent me 2 digis out in the post after admitting that they were faulty.

Struth - then it seems my opinion may be wrong in your situation, I know that's not a mmc. It is just a personal opinion. Last November I used tesco tests (pink dye) and got a v. faint positive result after the time limit, 2 days apart. I dismissed them as evaps but after visiting the doctor I was indeed pregnant. Sadly I m/c December 19th. It doesn't explain your situation at all.

Were they sainsbury's tests you used? I take it you were on the pill your previous cycle? Have you tested since? I just find it odd that both my tests gave the 'cross' with urine but a clear negative with water.

x

I have been ttc over 4 years and have always used blue dye tests  Infact i got my bfp on one on sunday! I have used alot of sainsburys tests, never had a problem with them :flower: good luck

I'm sorry for your loss Lala1976. That must have been awful for you :hugs:

I guess I'm just a bit wary of those blue dyes after my experience. I used clearblue ones - similar to the sainsbury's ones I think. I have tested lots since (!!!) with ICs and digis and all were :bfn:. FF has now confirmed my O (I only started temping after not getting a :bfp: or :witch) so am waiting to test again on Saturday.

I have just seen so many evaps on here with blue dyes. That doesn't mean to say that everyone will have the same experience as me but I think we have to be careful and try to not get people's hopes up until they have confirmed it with another test or at the drs. Personally I would never trust a blue dye again but that doesn't mean to say they are wrong all the time.

T'elle - congratulation on your BFP!! I too have PCOS and I have you have a H&H pregnancy!!

Struth, thank you - it's been a really rough time and to now be in limbo again is so stressful and frustrating. The evap stories are horrific and so unfair. I'm going to get some pink dye tests later and test again in the morning. I'm having that terrible metallic taste in my mouth more today, my bbs are sore and heavy (although last time they weren't until i was about 6 wks), and i'm wee'ing more but it's intermittent. I then wonder if it's all in my head!! :(

I wish you lots of baby dust and a true BFP for both of us SOON!!!!

Lala - I do hope that this is your :bfp: and that it is a sticky bean!

Can I ask something about your situation? I have a friend who is in a very similar situation to you - she had a mc at 8 weeks towards the end of December. She then thought that she had conceived again straight away (before her first :witch: after mc) as she was getting +ve tests. However, she then went on to get :witch:. It turned out that she hadn't stopped getting +ve tests from the first pregnancy and hence it wasn't a new pregnancy but rather she still had high levels from the mc. Does this sound right? Did you continue to get +ve tests for a while? TTC can be such a cruel thing sometimes can't it?

What dpo are you at? Your symptoms sounds promising! It would be interesting to hear how you get on in the morning.

Hi Struth!!

Yes, i did continue to get BFPs after the miscarriage and I too thought I had conceived straight away. I went to the doctor and demanded a BetaHcg. I've read that they usually monitor this post m/c but they didn't for me. Anyway, I went on the Thursday (after last +ve test on the Tuesday, if I remember) and decided to wait until the following Monday to have bloods drawn. I got a negative, my numbers were 'less than 1.0'. I believe the levels drop differently for each woman and that once you hit 0, you ovulate.

TTC is very cruel, especially when you m/c or when you don't get a definite BFP.

I caved tonight and after holding my wee for a few hours I poas. Tesco (pink). It looks negative but when i just opened it up I kind of see a line... however, it says to pee on it for at least 10 seconds and I couldn't manage that even. I have thought to be wee'ing more often today but again, is it all in my head?!

I've got another tesco test and a clearblue+ for the morning.

Thanks for your kind words. I see you are in the TWW... GL with everything. I'm apparently 18dpo according to FF. We aren't actually sure if I was in fact 8+4 or further along with the last m/c. With most of my other losses I haven't gotten a BFP with a urine test!

Are you charting?

Lala x

Hmmm...that is really useful but does make me concerned about my friend. She miscarried and then got positives right up to the day before :witch:. If the levels go down to 0 and then you O it sounds like she may have had a chemical (i.e. she had positives after she O'd). Does that make sense? Unless she didn't O that month.

Oh I don't know. I guess it is in the past now anyway. She's doing okay I think.

I do hope this is your :bfp:. How did you go with your tests this morning? Anything there?

Yes - I am on my third 2WW of this cycle!!! D'oh. I thought that I had O'd twice before now and I hadn't. I think this time I really have though. I am charting - there is a link in my signature - and my temps look like I have. FF seems to think I have too. So I'm 8dpo and waiting patiently!

Let us know how you got on with your tests.... :hugs:

Hi Struth,

Certainly does look like you ovulated although I'm new to charting myself. GL for your TWW. I only started it so that I'd have some information for the specialist in march. You know, some women O after a miscarriage, some dont. If she's had AF, i'd leave it be. I guess they are negative now??

AFM... well I did the Clearblue Plus this morning. Negative at 10 mins and about an hour later (if that) I have a clear positive. Clearer than I've ever seen before!!! I don't know what to think. Lala is still in Limbo!!

How do i attach an image?? It's definitely blue, and thick! Why does this keep happening to me. Why can't i get a clear positive in the time limit!!

Lala x

Oo Oo Oo! I want to see. If you click 'Go Advanced' you can then click on an icon with a paperclip on it. This will let you attach a picture.

Have you used the other red dye one too or just the Clearblue?

I hope this is a :bfp:!
