Saw a HB. Is 117 bpm ok for 6w2d?

Yesterday I had my first ultrasound, we saw a little baby measuring 6w2d (a day ahead of what I thought!) and a nice flickering heart beating at 117 bpm. The doctor said that she wants to see something over 120 bpm at this point, but that's probably ok. Do you think 117 bpm is fine for 6w2d? What was your baby's heartbeat early on?

Somehow that ultrasound made me more anxious than relaxed. Now that I saw my little baby and heard it's heart beating, I am even more scared for him/her.

That is wonderful! Mine was only 103 at 6wks exactly and the OB said anything over 100 is fantastic.

Your doc is, honestly, wrong in saying it should over 120. Standards say they like to see 120after seven weeks. Two of my boys didn't even have a HB at 6w, and this one was 111 at 6w2,and the doc said that was great.

Congrats I had scan at 6+4 and had hb of 122bpm so it is perfectly good, I'm 11 weeks today and had a scan yesterday and saw my baby kicking and waving at me, only got the scan cause my doc referred me cause I keep worrying that things are going wrong so please please take my advice and try not to worry about things cause that's a nice result you got, happy and healthy 9 months

^wss. I was told at my 7+0 ultrasound that anything between 100 and 200 was considered healthy. Your little bubba is doing just wonderfully!

Yep. Mine's was 101 at 6w0d (really 6w2d) and is now 177.

Every day it will increase by about 3bpm, so whenever you go back, you should see a higher heart rate.

Mine was 117 at 6+2 and was told that's perfectly fine. Congrats!

Well it's good to know that other ladies had low HR. I was worried cause I had an ultrasound at 6w3d an the HR was only 128bpm. Last pregnancy my DD HR was 177 at 6w1d, so I was worried that this one was too low.

The other ladies are right! I had my 6+2 ultrasound a couple of days ago and the heart rate was 118. The doctor said they like to see anything over 100 and that 118 was great! It will continue to increase

What the doctor said doesn't sound right at your stage. 120 to 160 is normal in the second and third trimesters. Anything over 100 is great at your stage, and then it should increase quickly over the next few weeks. Around 9 to 11 weeks, up to 180 or 190 is ok. My baby's heart beat was 113 right at 6 weeks and the ultrasound tech was happy and told me that anything over 100 was great at that stage. By 9 weeks, my baby's heart rate had climbed to 180, and by the second trimester, it was below 160. I wouldn't be worried--I'm not sure why your doctor said that.

Did you know you can actually date an early pregnancy by the heart rate? At 6 weeks we are just glad to see anything over 90bpm, anything under is associated with poor outcomes unfortunately. Congrats!!!
