my baby is on aptamil and was weighed on tuesday being 8.13 oz. im currently feeding him every 3-4 hours with 4 scoops of feed and 90ml. tonight he has taken the whole 120ml.how do you know if you should increase the scoops you give your baby and if giving the whole bottle is too much

do you mean he is drinking 4oz?

if so i would make up a 5oz bottle and he will drink it if he want it then also if you make an extra oz up in each feed it helps to prevent wind as they dont drain the bottle and take in air.x.x

My baby was getting 90ml bottles and was finishing the lot so the HV said make up 120ml bottles and he will take what he wants.
She said to work out how much a baby should drink at each feed take the baby's weight and multiply by 2.5 and then divide by number of feeds.
So my son should be 7.25 * 2.5 / 8 = 2.3 fl oz per feed which is about 65ml but he takes much more sometimes take the whole 120ml but she wasnt worried about it.
If you dont feed a baby what they want they will only wake up wanting more.
I try to take my time feeding him as apparently it takes 30mins for them to realise they are full up, I let him take 20ml then stop and wind him. If I do this I find that he doesn't take as much milk each feed and doesnt wake up wanting more.
Hope this helps x

Do you mean you're putting 90ml water in the bottle and then adding 4 scoops of feed? 90ml is 3oz, and you should add one scoop of feed for every ounce of water, so only 3 scoops to a 90ml bottle. If you add too many scoops to the water, the feed is too rich and can make your baby ill.

Apologies if I've misunderstood you!

Was just going to say the same...
