Has anyone sorted out a plan for what happens when they go in to labour?

We plan on having a few different people on call who live in our neighborhood, just to be at the house until my dad or my MIL can get over to where we live (they both live about a half hour away). I've gone into labor in the evening/night both times so far, so I'm hoping that means it'll happen again, and everyone will be off work by then. DH will stay with me until the baby is delivered, and then he will go home to be with the kids, since all of our parents will need to work the next day.

Seriously don't know yet!

Hoping inlaws will stay with us around due date like last time, and that fil will drop us at the hospital so no worrying over parking.

I have a few people on call and my mum has been staying over loads. X

My mum is coming over from Thailand and should be staying with us. If not I have my dad local and his ex wife and their kids (a couple of them are old enough to babysit) so I should have plenty of options. If desperate I have a friend I could ask too.

My parents will be coming to town to help with my kids 2 days before my due date and if I go before that, then will drop kids off at a friend's place for couple of hours.

Both my parents and inlaws live 2 hours drive away. We can pass my brothers house on the way to hospital so one thought is we drop DD off to them en route, but it's a big ask for them as they will both be at work so to then be in a position to be ferrying my little one around to a different town etc could be problematic.

However, my first labour lasted days. I went in at 6am Wednesday and they said I was in labour and to head home and they expected to see me back later. I didn't return until 5pm on Friday when 5cm dilated and DD was born at 4:30 am on Saturday after ventouse because I'd been pushing for over 4 hours. So I reckon I'll have some time to get people over to us (altho realistically would rather not have inlaws staying etc but might be only choice)

It'll be friends on call locally until my parents get here, they are only 40 mins away. Xx

My sis is taking my kids on a vacation for 2 weeks coming up so I'm FX I have my baby while they are gone. T'would be simply ideal! :haha: But if I don't go then, I have my sis, 2 sis-in-laws, and my m-i-l all within a 5 minute drive so I have plenty of places to bring the kids if/when I need to go. Last time, DS went to my sis' house and stayed overnight until I came home. He had so much fun playing with his cousins, he didn't even notice that DH and I weren't around! And I'm not worried this time either as my kids spend plenty of time with their cousins all around so no matter where they go, they'll have friends to play with and are comfortable staying there.

My sister will have my girls, as my mum will be at the birth she is the head of midwifery so she will be supervising my labour's like always Hehehe :D making sure I get the very best care. Love my mummy xx

This has been super helpful, hoping your sort something out that works for you.

I'm thinking it might be wise to sort something out soon then. Maybe its not too early. I needed to go to a&e at 16wks and none of my inlaws (despite living in the same town!!) could help me out. My mum ended up leaving work early and traveling 2hrs to get to me. As in being warned against a quick birth that might not be the best solution this time. :(

My parents live a 4hour drive away but my Mum's being a star and is coming to stay from when I'm about 35weeks til baby is here to help with bits around the house and with my toddler when I'm in late pregnancy (suffered with high blood pressure + pre-eclampsia last time) and to be here with my son used to being with her when I go into labour.

My parents live half an hour away (if there's no traffic which there can be at rush hour times!) but my dad works 5-10 mins from our house so if he was at work he'd be the one to pick dd up. If both my parents were at home and I truly felt like half an hour would be cutting it fine (I didn't have a super quick labour with my first so not overly worried that I will this time either but never say never!) then oh's mum lives 5-10 mins away but doesn't drive so we'd likely drop dd off on the way to the hospital.

My mum will be having my son and bringing him into the hospital to meet his baby brother, it's going to be an emotional moment to see my babies meet, cannot wait!
