September Stars

Haha Carley we must have the same taste in names.

Glad your little Jayden is doing well x

Hi BTP, Harry also regularly feeds every 2 hours. Glad he's not the only one! x

Hi girls, finally checking into this thread officially as an honorary September star!
Thank you for all your well wishes & labour dust - it worked as we beat induction by going into labour 5 hours before it!
For anyone that missed it we had a 'little' boy - Benjamin, born at 22.27 on 10/10/10 weighing 9lb 14. Birth story to come!

 Shwhattam welcome to the thread :flower:

well Ollie is still pleged by wind, we have now moved onto the fast flow teats as the med one's seem to be getting clogged  strange as they have never done it before. cow&gate milk is still going ok but i hate to see him crying in pain coz of wind :nope:

a friend said her mate uses Colief Infant Drops and reccomends it.
Has anyone else tryed it??? does it make the milk thicker???

the baby gaviscon was crap made the milk way to thick so i dont want to buy anything that thickens the milk. thanks in advance xxx

My sister gave me some colief and it was recommended to me by a friend not used it thou so not sure about it thickening milk but just wanted to say tell your doctor you have tried it and it works and ask for a prescription around here they tend to say you have to try it first at £11ish a bottle its expensive stuff! ...might as well get some NI back lol x

Oh my good god that took FOREVER to catch up!!! and now i have forgotten everything!!! Glad people are doing so well with their babies and i do agree with *someone* that all our september babies are just gorge!!!

Jayden is doing really well at home and dave is helping out loads, although hes back to work next weeks so im a little worried about being left on my own for days with bubs.... but i cant do that much wrong i suppose....

Boony - how weird is that you having a Jayden and Tyler was our second choice of name too!!!

I thought id attach some photos for you all but they are too big so feel free to add me to facebook if you wanna have a peek!! (Carley Morris)

I agree i still have not done my birth story yet!! He is gorgeous hun i commented on your pics earlier x

Hey ladies, welcome back F&C and congratulations Mrs N.
Riley and I had our 6 week check today and he is fine! The little monkey tinkled all over the poor health care assistant though! He is very long and grown 5cm already putting him on the 91st centile. His weight gain was incredible this week and he gained 12oz in 6 days on booby milk...I am so happy as I get paranoid I don't produce enough milk. On the down side his hip check was hard to watch as he was screaming and I wanted to punch the doctor! Not that it was his fault at all, but to see my little bubba in pain.
My check on the other hand was crap an the doctor even forgot to ask me about contraception...I want to use condoms as we had such troubles conceiving that I do not want any hormonal intervention as we would love another one. I thought he might put some on prescription as durex are so expensive, but no! Bugger!

All is good here, hard work but worth it, such as when Riley was in bed with my DS yesterday and they both fell asleep together....so cute. DS doesn't use his name but calls him 'Brother' all the time and I find it so adorable. I love my boys. x

Well, tomorrow is my b'day and I hit the big 3-0!
Off to do dinner, hope everyone is well. Take care and enjoy your evening. x

Jellycat, sorry I've not been keeping up to date with this thread to date. Have you been having BF issues? I did at first but my sister gave me some great tips on how to get LO latched on and since then he's been feeding really well. Let me know how you get on. xx

Had alot of different opinions whilst in Hospital regarding what to do for BF and found that my milk supply was pretty much non existent and basically tole me not to bother.... I have been combi feeding and mainly using expressed milk as JJ and I have difficulty with him Latching on. Once he is latched he's fine its just getting him there. He gets very distressed finally managed to do my second breast feed today but tried again earlier with DH helping and he didn't seem as happy. I'm pumping straight after to try to increase my supply and so know I have milk still there. Last feed just used nipple shields oh my they are brillant :cloud9::cloud9:

thanks guys for the advice.. one good thing about having a baby last is the fact you guys have done it all already..

i only managed to get paige latched on once... i would love to do both but everyone is saying its impossible to bottle and BF... so i feel there is no point in trying. I want to ask for help from MW but worried she will just say "well you shouldnt have started on the bottle" but due to being left in hospital for 3 days prior to giving birth i was sooooooo tired it wasnt fair to paige or me.

Kara I'm trying both and even though day 6 I had only managed one breast feed and struggled to produce anything pumping. JJ has finally taken to it today using nipple shields. Ask MW that's what I did and it was the best thing I could of done today. I know in the hospital the MW's and nurses were quite harsh in regards to combi however since having the community MW's they have been alot more understanding maybe because they see more mums on a longer perod therefore know in reality what new mums have to go through? :hugs::hugs: Think your feeling today how I felt two days ago & yesterday xx

Back another time, hope everyone ok, Jelly i was going to say something and its gone, ahhhh my brain!!:hugs:

My brain always goes too, glad I'm not the only one :)

Teeny hope you have a lovely birthday for tomorrow xx

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Teeny!

Hope everyone who is struggling to BF manages to get where they want with it. It is so hard. Well done for trying so hard! You can only do what you can do, and you need to be able to stay awake and function too. Big hugs.

Sam's up in bed in our room. I took him up about 9, and my plan now is to dream feed him around 10.30, unless he wakes before then. I wish he would start to consistently go longer in the night, but he's only 7 weeks, I need to give him a break!

Has anyone started a bedtime routine or thinking about it???

We are going to try wehn we move as Hope will be in her cot in our room then, we want to bath her, let her have her evening bottle then put her down, in theory it sounds fine but practice is a whole different thing!! I know she is still very young but I want to get into an evening habit for when I am on my own and Ian goes away!! Just thought it would make my life alot easier and I know I will have to perserver but in the end it will be so worth it!!

We kind of do a bedtime routine Becs, but it's a loose one. It sort of fits in with the bigger boys. They all have a bath at around the same time, usually between half 6 and 7. Then we come downstairs and Sam has a feed at around the time the other two are going to bed, 7.30 - 8ish. Then it might take a while to settle him, but he is tending to go up to the bedroom now around 9pm. It's not textbook, and it changes nightly, but it's a start!! Your plan for the bath, bottle, bed thing sounds fab! Archie was a star and settled in to just that routine really nicely from about 10 weeks. x

I just don't want to leave it too late to start a routine, I figured it would be alot easier while she is still small! I know she will probably cry at first but we will get there in the end!! I am just looking forward to having a bit of us time back or being able to make a bit more noise downstairs without waking her up lol!! Probably sounds a bit selfish!!

It doesn't sound selfish at all! That's why we've been taking Sam up once he's settled, so we can chat as normal and do kitchen stuff. It's nice! x

not selfish at all becs children/babies thrive on routine! xx

Becs,
We have to have a routine with 5 children, the girls have baths one day, the boys alternate, tea, bath bed, usually a dvd for the girls, then off and bed, ds has wind down routine from 6pm because of his adhd, Rosie just atm fits in, I will bath her bath time, get her used to bath and bed, she only has the moses basket at night, and i dim the lights in the room, its totally different in the bedroom so she recognises its sleepy time, last night was the first night in her sleep bag and she slept 4 and a half hours from 10 when she settled (she seems to know its bedtime and this is her glut time and she totally fills herself up)til 2.30 then til 6 after settling again around 3 so a record night for her, she likes being warm so sleep bag a hit! :happydance:

Teeny,
If you ask your health visitor she should be able to get you condoms, they are usually durex they have, I remember a health visitor once bringing a variety of ribbed, coloured and flavoured ones to me, I hadn't asked, she must have thought i was in need of them!!:haha:
If not and she is no good you will have a local family planning service just pop in when the clinic is running and pick up some for free, its where brave teenagers get their condoms! xx:hugs:
Well done on the health check, I love the baby boys ability to pee at such distance! I forgot that after the last 3 being girls!
:cake:Happy Birthday xx:hugs:

Well I am off, school run is being done by ds today, the advantage of having an older child! Dh is in bed unable to move because of his back, so just me and the younger 2 downstairs.
I would have to take Rosie out in the pram if i did the school run, I want to use the baby carrier but she is not quite weighing enough yet, she needs to be 8lb, how teeny is that and she is not there yet! I think she must be pretty close she was 7lb5oz last week, just not been weighed since, the hv said get her weighed at 6 weeks but I love to see how she is doing so i will be going sooner than that, I wont be able to wait!
Have all babies had a hearing check, they put little things in Rosies ears that bounce a sound back off the ear drum, she said it was all fine but i wondered if anyone else had this?
I requested a sight check as my eldest had an undiagnosed lazy eye which was corrected at 5 but could have been noticed sooner, they can't do them til at least 9 months though. I have no worries really, she is my only baby that stares at me when feeding, usually they have looked everywhere but me, but Rosie stares at me all through a feed!

Must go, bad time to be glued to the lap top!!

:hugs:

:baby:tp xx

BTP- Yes Ollie had the hearing test where she put the things in his ears too

Jellycat, great news about the nipple shields!

Happy 30th Teeny!! Congratulations! Hope you have a lovely day and get lots of nice treats.

We've been trying with a routine but it's been a nightmare. We give him a bath around 7.30pm then in to his sleeping bag. I will then give him a feed and then cuddles until he falls asleep. This last bit could take an hour and there is lots of crying. Then eventually we put him down in his basket but then 10-15 mins later he wakes and won't stop crying until we put him in his electric swing. He'll fall asleep in that and then we try and put him down again. He'll wake up and I'll try feeding him again. At that point we usually get him down but recently he just will not stay asleep in his basket. I've had to have him in the bed with me.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

x

Just recently Ollie will not go in his basket either and has to come in with me i am trying to resist as much as possible but he just screams in it. So will be interested to see what people have to say

Hope isn't keen on her basket now either, I think because she is bigger she hits her hands on the side and wakes herself up, hopefully when she goes in her cot she will sleep better!

Harry also keeps waking himself when he hits the sides in his sleep. I'm wondering about trying swaddling again, although he does seem to hate it now.
