*~*~*September Sweetpeas 2013 Parenting Thread*~*~*

congrats to all whos babies are here, im sat in the overdue queue again lol this is becoming a bad habit for me

Well I should start posting on this thread now :)

Having trouble breast feeding. I get little drops of colostrum and Evan gets really frustrated (and I do a bit too). I tried for 3 days to go at least 10 minutes, but now I have to let my nipples heal because they started to bleed. Didn't notice it was bleeding till after he'd already swallowed a bunch :( Poor little guy. I have a pump so I'm going to try that route to see if I can get my milk to come in. I know it doesn't work for everyone. My breasts aren't even heavy and sore (other than the nipples) so I don't know if it's even working.

Anake I'm still having problems with sore nipples. I want to cry every time he latches on. My milk took a week to come in. I was worried but my pediatrician said to be patient. Baby wouldn't starve. I'm using lanolin and gel pads. Hope it works out for you :hugs:

My little guy was so hungry, he just cried all the time like he was in pain. My heart broke. We started giving him formula until my nipples heal and I can start using my breast pump. Boobs are really starting to get heavy now!

Oh no poor little man. Good your starting to feel full. Hopefully it will work out for ya. If not don't stress using formula. Just enjoy

Anake check out the LeLeche Legue website and see if u can find a local meeting. They can def help! Its free and plus its always nice to meet other moms

Yay! first successful breast feed today! had to use the formula bottle at first because he was freaking out so bad, but he took my breast and went for 10 minutes!

great news AnakeRose,
dont be afraid to offer breast first at every feed it will build your supply and make it easier for bubs to accept the breast

So, my nipples had gotten slightly better then...boom back to killing me! Hoping week three is truly the magic number

Feeling you on the nipple front. My left one isn't too bad, but omg the right one is a killer. Toe curling pain to say the least! :( good job he's cute or he wouldn't get away with this!

My nipples are also hurting but Lilah is lip tie, so thats why. We are traveling on Friday to go get it revised. For some reason my right side hurts sooo bad. My left isnt as bad. Dont knw why but w all three of my kids thats been the case. I do find that football hold is the best position for relieving it and cradle hold makes it that worst. A deep latch position is always helpful tho still painful. Not nearly as bad as cradle tho. LO cant open her mouth all that wide due to her ties so i do what i call 'nipple sandwhich' (haha). Basically using my thumb and index finger i hold the top and bottom of my nipple and sanwhich it between my finggers when she goes to latch on. Helps a lot!

Mine hurt too... Every time it's lasted a couple weeks. Only hurts when she first latches on though.

Yeah guppy I'm doing the sandwich thing too! Anything to try and squash it to get as much in his mouth as I can in an attempt to keep it away from anything brushing on it. Grrr, it makes me shiver just thinking about it! Hope Lilah's tie revision goes well. :)

Yeah they do have a local group. The part that sucks is I already have something going the nights they meet. I'm the organizer for my Ringette team so I have to show up at the rink until I can start playing again. There's a Breastfeeding Cafe here so maybe I'll check them out.

Wow, now that I can actually come on here its quiet :p

Well, I could have been on here a week ago, but I am a FTM, and boy was it ever a learning curve!

I think my boobs have finally stopped hurting... my nipples still hurt once in a while, but not nearly as bad as when I first started breastfeeding, which is good! As of yesterday, I was able to pump a full 150ml bag of milk with 10 minutes on each side. Planning to pump and save, so when breastfeeding is established we can introduce breastmilk bottle feeding for a small portion of my day :)

I also have a rash on the inner parts of my arms... anyone else get this? Its worse on my right side than my left.

my little guy is 3 weeks old and I think he has his first cold :sad1:

Poor little guy. He feels really warm. I have to get a thermometer to see if he has a fever. Just cuddling him and feeding on demand.

My baby got a cold last week and it's still lingering :(
If you can, elevate his bed a little too, it helps with the drainage :hugs:

Hi ladies, I've missed y'all. Quick question how often are your little ones eating. Grey is a month and still eats every two hours. Is this too much?

Breastfeeding?? My baby is 3 weeks and still nurses every two hours during the day...but at night she has started going for 4-5 hour stretches. I'm a believer of feeding on demand....especially in the early months. So my answer is no, I don't think it's too much :)

^I totally agree with Melissa. My baby is almost a month old and feeds constantly. All three of my children were every two hour feeders (at max). And typically they were attached at the boob all day anyways. It's def normal and i too believe in feeding on demand. Just remember, breastfeeding isn't only about nutrition. There is a lot else that goes on, especially for the emotional aspect, development, and comfort of it.
I def think what you are experiecing is very normal. My second son did that until he was 14 months old and we stopped BFing...
