septembryos baby area (09 babies)

10th sept, We had issues with weight gain to start with and we only just got back to birth weight at 1 month so I dont think youre doing too bad, I recon providing baby 10th is gaining some weight then youre doing well. I found with Holly that she dropped ALOT of weight to start with then gained weight on a lower percentile iykwim, if baby 10th is following a line even if its not the one she was born on then its likely that is where she should be, rather than where she was born.

hi everyone,

its nice to see others coming over here now.

we went to the big sports shop out of town and i got a swim suit (that fits!)

Hey 10th, lovely to see you over here :D :hugs:

We all have trouble getting on with anything resembling regularity so don't feel bad. And hurrah for the bf clinic attendance, this baby malarky is a learning curve and I think a tricky or traumatic delivery can make feeding harder - I really struggled with my eldest and she was a forceps baba, the recovery is longer for you both.

Hurrah for finding your swimsuit Amy (I typed sleepsuit then,...d'oh!)

And I totally agree that our babs are well young for full day to day routine so there are only gonna be a small percentage of folks able to get em on the go, I have attempted to double feed on the left to save a cracked right nipple and get some expressing on the go but Paloma isn't conned by this and is now insisting on double helpings over an hour or so of feeding!!

She does have to fit in with school runs though so if she is hungry then I just have to rely on the pram soothing her and get her latched on when I next stop! I'm sure it isn't doing her any harm and obv I try to get her vaguely into needing a feed shortly before I need to go out.

I got chatting to a cousin of mine who is expecting in December and I totally forgot she works in the corrections and re-registration section at my work (General Register Office) so she was able to tell me what the steps are to get the nipper's father's name on the cert whether he is willing or not :happydance:

... god M.wren... i couldn't imagine having to deal with any other kids when having a NB... i was asking my neighbour how she does it .... she has a 6, and 2.5 year old and an 8 month old.... i find Noah demanding enough with out having to deal with any more.... i suppose its like any thing, you get used to it, and you get on with it.

Thats great about your cousin being able to point you in the right direction to getting Palomas father registered on the BC

In some ways tis easier to have other nippers as you just have to get on with it - I do have loadsa support though which helps! And my ma is very organised and reminds the girls to get swimming kits or violins out the night before they need them too :)

Also, you bathe and rock your first so carefully and agonise over many things then when the next one comes you know you didn't totally screw up last time and you have another child to see to so you just go for it hehe

Hi girlies!! Misswren, I don't know how you cope hun, I have enough trouble with my boys - OH, Joe and our dog lol!! Don't know who's more work though...lol

Hope everyone's ok - Joe has had a better day. He went to sleep after his feeds at 9am and again about an hour ago (didn't at midday, but 2 out of 3 is a definite improvement). I've actually had sometime to clean the bathroom and sort out a few bits! Can't remember the last time that happened :happydance: Hopefully he'll have a good night too - my friend said that at 6 weeks everything changed and it all gets abit easier, so fingers crossed that that does happen x

blake has started going backwards with feeds. he was taking 3oz 3hrly, he's now taking 3oz 2hrly. this probably means he wants more BUT when i give him 4oz he is sick so i have no idea.

Amy - I'm having the same with Joe that you had a few weeks ago...He is still feeding every 3-4 hours but now wants only 4oz max on each feed, whereas for the past few weeks sometimes he was taking 5 or 6oz. What happened with Blake when he changed his feeding pattern??
I have tried offering him the bottle once he seems full, but don't want to make him sick as when he does take more, sometimes he does burp a little bit up. When he takes only 4oz, we seem to be ok.

i just gave him water in the end and he seemed fine with it and we only got "dribbly sick" not proper sick. he has only just started taking 4oz evry 3hrs during day and is going from 11pm till between 5-7am.

he is in a real grump tonight. dont know whats wrong with him. even when picked up he is still screaming.

hello girlies and babies!

thought i'd pop my head in :)

Tegan is sleeping, yay! she decided that she wanted to be awake throughout a very long Brazilian GP qualifying session (from 5 to half 8/9ish!)

she is also a little guzzler - is it normal for a baby girl who's 3 weeks old tomorrow to be wanting 5oz bottles?? seems a bit too much to me! all day yesterday and the day before she was finishing her 4oz bottles and is now taking about 4.5oz, i think she might turn into a chunkster if this continues!

firstalien - Teg's hiccups all the time now too, apparently it is normal if they're not in any discomfort and it means that they are full, satisfied and content, the first time she hiccuped i got all worried and asked the midwife, but now i'm used to it and don't freak out anymore!

but hello everyone :) and now i'm gonna go to bed and read (daddy gets Teg's nightfeeds at weekends, even though i have to wake him up! lol)

Heya
Thanks for the support
The health visitor at the bf clinic said don't worry about weight gain as she's feeding well. But the mw is all, put her on formula at every feed. Personally, *pro breast so don't really want to go to formula, esp if there is nothing wrong with her and she's just small - I think there is too much emphasis on average weight and pumping her with calories isn't necessary if she's just naturally small. If there is something wrong with her, formula is just going to mask it by piling on the weight without us getting to the root of the problem. I don't know, it's too confusing!!!!
Soon2b, thanks that's really reasuring, I really hope she gets there by 6 weeks, she was still 100g under on tues (3 days shy of a month old)*

I've been catching up on all the posts during feeding sessions, wow you ladies are doing really well!!! I can't think of a routine right now, hers changes every day!!!! She hardly sleeps in the daytime, 3 hours absolute max. I have tried to get a bedtime routine into place though, bath/top and tail, massage, feed, bed. I started Reading baby whisperer but wasN't sure how to make activity after feed work at night. Perhaps I need to readmore and work at it. But I think it'll be hard whilst I'm trying to sort out weight gain and having to wake her for feeds if she doesn't wake herself. Argh!!! Last night she slept at 12, was still asleep at 5 and so I had to wake her for food, she hasn't slept since- argh!!!! I'm sure we would have got another hour or two if I hadn't woken her!!!*

Hey 10th!! :hi: We're struggling with a routine too - Joe is a very strong minded little baby and seems to have his own plan for everyday, we just have to go with the flow lol!!! Some days he won't sleep hardly at all during the day and some days he'll go to sleep after each feed - It's hard to get anything done or planned, but we're hoping once he gets older, he'll fall into his own routine. I don't think we help as we're seriously bad at getting up at the same time each day due to OH work patterns (and me being tired all the time lol) but I'm sure we'll all get there :hugs:

Rees - Joe was taking 5oz at some feeds at 3 weeks. He varies now from 4oz to 6oz bottles depending on how hungry he seems to be.

Thanks Amy for the advice - maybe we'll try some cooled boiled water. I think he's having a growth spurt at the moment. He hasn't got much room in his pram thing left....I think he's a long baby but they didn't measure him at birth so not sure how much he's grown!!

she will take what she needs/wants. as long as she isnt sick after she should be ok. my HV told me that until 6weeks their stmoachs are only the size of a ping-pong ball and therefore they are likely to be sick IF you give them too much.

blake has only just moved to 4oz and he 7weeks BUT this was because he kept being sick with 4 but seemed that he wanted more. we got round this by giving an ounce of water half hr after a feed.

Izzy has 5oz, sometimes every 2 hours!!!!!! She has put on 3lb since birth!!! i call her chubba chub!

I don't think any babas are catching up with leelee's Chloe :D

I think my right nipple is finally getting to heal (again) - I am now inserting a knuckle between Paloma's gums to de-latch her in the hopes she won't crack it again - the right feeds have brought tears to my eyes a few times!!!

I was trying double feeding on the left but then the little milk monster decided to have both sides each time...grr....good job she is cute methinks!!!

She has been a little madam, tried the EASY routine today, all going great but went to try and put her down in her moses basket, big mistake!!! She wasnt too bad in there and if she whinged i'd comfort her, but she refused to sleep, so she is now screaming loads through tiredness, aaaggghhh!!! so we did the first EASY well, didnt get me time cause she was asleep on me, 2nd one tried to put her down, so now s stands for screaming!!!! Its hard isnt it? i dont want to do much in the day, just to be able to have a cup of tea or go for a wee would be nice! Sorry having a bad day!!!!

:hugs: I know that feeling!! I had 3 days of feeding-screaming-sleeping and most of the screaming was because he was over tired!! Luckily over the last couple of days he's been a better - but I have found if I go out during the day he is a lot better... no idea why!!

Hi ladies. Well I feel terrible as I write this as I haven't been on since my lovely baby girl was born. I'm so sorry, I was so overwhelmed to start, no time and still haven't been on the laptop (my iPhone is a god send!!!) and the. I've felt soooo bad about not coming here earlier I've been to scared...

Anyway, my baby girl was born 16th sept, emergency c sec in the end after 16 hours of labour- ended up with epidural as it turned out I was a total wuss with contraction pain!!!!! So much for the water option in my birth plan!!!! What a waste of all the nct no epidual persuasion!!!

Anyone else had slow weight gain with a breast fed baby? I've had quite a lot of pressure to go to bottle which I've resisted so far, but not sure how much longer we can hold out!!!!!

 Hi 10th!! Hope you are well!! There seems to be a lot of emergancy section septembryo girlies out there!! Goodluck resisting the bottle - just make sure you do what you think is right!!

:hugs: for the cracked nipple! I feel your pain! I hate night feeds on my split nipple... or when he decides to pull off without letting go!!

Well.... I have to say I am glad that the 3 days of screaming ended yesterday and fingers crossed we have had 2 better days!! Or at least days that aren't centered around screaming!

How is everyone today??

i've been and bought blake his 2nd pushchair!!!! not because his is broken or anything like that nor cos i have a pushchair addiction BUT cos we go away on friday and cant fit the britax pram and cases and toys etc in the car so ave been and got a stroller that says from 3+months (it lays back almost flat) but its at the same angle as his bouncy chair and bean bag. just going to take the cosy toes off britax so hes warm.

Am i overreacting???? my OH is acting like a selfish son of a........
He is supposed to help me out by doing night duty at the weekends, but last night about 3am lost it and complained about lack of sleep and how i make him do too much at the weekends. So i got moses basket and freezed my arse off sleeping in the living room.
And today he got drunk, slept for hours, threw up, and is now making himself food and a cuppa, without asking me if i want anything (i havent eaten as been looking after Izzy and doing housework).
Izzy is a handful but i long for these weekends where he can help, as i am exhausted.
I feel like telling him he is sooo bloody selfish, and spend another night on the sofa.
Am i overreacting?

Erm.. No you are most definately NOT overreacting! If his DNA can help make the baby then he can help out with the baby!! Tell him to stop being such a baby and sort it out!!

:hugs: :hugs: I long for weekends too when I get the help that I need in order to recouperate for the next week!
