hurrah for amy and diz and awww for fg and k!

We had a proper hungry day yesterday then even in the night I let her sleep on me from about 12-2 just to get her still, then ended up finishing her feed with me leant over her so she was already laid out on her back when it was done and stayed asleep.

Luckily she is more chilled today - I am even typin with 2 hands here!!!!

K - I meant to reply yesterday to say Paloma is good on the school run - her pram movement seems to help soothe her if she thinks she is owed milk hehe

Ooh I spoke too soon about the chilledness as she is now giving her spider and octopus on the mat a good talking to!!!!

We had the angry shouty pre-sleep overtired thing lots yesterday and I noticed she sleeps quicker for people who don't make milk so my parents are a godsend for that, with me she expects what she can smell i think, and I am sometimes abit torn between thinking ah well, its demand feeding and worrying I am taking the easy way out?

That's good.. Isaac loves his pram.. he is always really chilled in it - either awake, talking to the fabric or fast asleep - in fact after this mornings screaming we've just got back from a walk, where he spent the whole time asleep, as soon as we got home - wide awake!! :dohh:

I'm also torn between the demand feeding and easy way out/over eating child!! I especially wonder when it's every 1 1/2 hours like yesterday evening!!

Finley is all oficial today. i had to feed him in the registrars office while going through formalities so i have done my first public feeding since hospital! he did the biggest burp afterwards it was really cute. he was also sick for the first time aswell today on the way. we think he didn't like th outfit daddy had picked out for him!!!
Last night he was still a star and slept till 1:30 and then off till 6! although my boob was leaking this morning as he normally feeds at 5:30. this amazed my hubby too!

hope all are well today. i cant believe my little boy is already a week old. it goes so quickly.

:hi: every1!!

how is every1 getting on?

mason has been doing really well, with his sleeping at night been going 6hours which has been fab for my sanity!! lol...altho wed night he slept for nearly 10hours and i didnt even wake....felt like the worst mum ever!!...so he was sooo grumpy and awake yesterday and only went 3hours last night and would just take little sucks of milk then fall asleep...arg!! lol

also today ive had to rock him 2 sleep he wont self soothe so im gettin worried he'll forget how to as he was doing super well...mayb hes having a growth spurt and not getting enough milk...

also my left booby is MASSIVE and really sore as its sooo full, its like it produces far too much as when mason feeds its like it comes out to fast and he chokes...lol any1 else like this?! xx

So still no luck with anywhere near a routine with Joe :( Last night he fed at 5pm and wouldn't sleep, even in his rocker. Fed again at 8pm and then he poo'ed after which kept him awake. OH eventually got him to sleep by driving him around at midnight and he slept til 4am. Back down again at half 5 after his feed (he had bad wind) and up again at 8am. We've only just been able to get him back to sleep now for a nap, with the help of a dummy to calm him. Getting into a routine seems to be impossible

:hugs: vicks! I'm no where near a routine with Isaac either - and tbh I don't think I am going to bother!! I tried to move towards one and I find it just ends in screaming, so going to go with the flow for a little longer! The only thing that I have near a routine is his bath time, which is followed by food, story and then bed.

Rachy - I have that massive boob thing - esp if I haven't feed for a while. I find that hand expressing a little off helps to ease the discomfort and enables Isaac to latch on properly without choking.

First - Congrats on first public feeding!! (and the officialness of your son!!)

I am having a less screamy afternoon - but that is because I am cheating and have a son attached to my shoulder!

Does anyone else's baby seem to have trouble pooing sometimes?? I think this is why he was so wakeful at 4.30! He seemed to be straining and not getting anywhere and it was stressing him out! I tried sitting him upright and rubbing his tummy but it didn't help much. Any ideas anyone?

i bought lactolose solution from chemist suitable from birth. blake has 1ml a day and he now goes daily without straining.

managed to get a swim top and bottoms for £3 in the wallis sale! not great (brown and turquoise) but will do for holiday. ***update*** it has 2 bloody labels a 12 and a 16 and top is a 12 so cant get my boobs in it. ggrrrrrr! back where i was.

Ah, thanks. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one!! Joe is ruling our house at the moment lol!!!
He settled with a dummy about an hour and a half ago and is still asleep. I don't really want to use a dummy (don't want to offend anyone but I'm not a fan) but it has really helped to settle him so may have to carry on, atleast so he can get into a routine for naps during the day, otherwise he just gets too tired.
I feel like I must be doing something wrong  (Abit emotional today me thinks!)

FG - with regards to the straining, I heard that BF babies don't get constipated and therefore the straining isn't because they can't poo, but is often wind!!

Oh yes.. they definately know how to rule the roost!! I can't work out whether Isaac gets over tired which causes the screaming, or over hungery (even though he may have been fed an hour a go). Wouldn't it be lovely if they came with a manual!! What I do find is that going for a walk helps to calm him right down! Personally I am not a fan of dummies... but if it helps make a calmer mummy then they can work! As a calm mummy is definately the way to go!

:hugs: :hugs:

Vicks, if its any sort of comfort, i am really having problems today too x

Ah Scally, how is Izzy?? I feel like we just make some progress and then take a few steps back! :hugs:

She has been a little madam, tried the EASY routine today, all going great but went to try and put her down in her moses basket, big mistake!!! She wasnt too bad in there and if she whinged i'd comfort her, but she refused to sleep, so she is now screaming loads through tiredness, aaaggghhh!!! so we did the first EASY well, didnt get me time cause she was asleep on me, 2nd one tried to put her down, so now s stands for screaming!!!! Its hard isnt it? i dont want to do much in the day, just to be able to have a cup of tea or go for a wee would be nice! Sorry having a bad day!!!!

I know how you feel hun. Thats the same as me, I don't want to do anything special in the day, just maybe have an hour to get some bits done. Luckily my OH only works part time and is off today so has been helping out this afternoon so I can have a little break.
I've just ordered the baby whisperer book yesterday to see if that can help us. We tried it last night after reading up on it on their website and only got E and A done!! S never started and Y is never gonna happen lol!!

I hope Izzy settles better tonight for you hun x

Hi ladies. Well I feel terrible as I write this as I haven't been on since my lovely baby girl was born. I'm so sorry, I was so overwhelmed to start, no time and still haven't been on the laptop (my iPhone is a god send!!!) and the. I've felt soooo bad about not coming here earlier I've been to scared...

Anyway, my baby girl was born 16th sept, emergency c sec in the end after 16 hours of labour- ended up with epidural as it turned out I was a total wuss with contraction pain!!!!! So much for the water option in my birth plan!!!! What a waste of all the nct no epidual persuasion!!!

We're getting on ok, had some trouble with bf at thr start which is now sorted I think (been attending bf clinics). But she still isn't back at birthweight (1 month old today!!!!) and so i'm quite stressed about it. It's the thing I'm finding hardest, if it weren't for the stress of that, I think we're coping a lot better than he first two weeks, but I've had a LOT of family support which is all disappearing as of Monday so it's probably going to be tough for a couple of weeks to adjust to no help.

Anyone else had slow weight gain with a breast fed baby? I've had quite a lot of pressure to go to bottle which I've resisted so far, but not sure how much longer we can hold out!!!!!

Hope everyone else is well, I see everyone is trying to get routines set, amazing!!! I started Reading baby whisperer but then we got the weight issues and I thought I can't limit feeding, sometimes she really does want a proper feed after an hour!!!!

Anyway, look forward to keeping up and again so sorry for my absence, ESP after all the amazing support you all gave me before baby 10thsept arrived!!!!

Hi guys!

Heya 10th....good to see you back. I'm kind of hit and miss on here myself so don't feel bad. Keep your chin up about the BF-ing...and if push comes to shove and you have to switch don't feel like you've failed in anyway. You gave it a go and have at least gotten her most of the important goodies from your milk.

I have to admit there were way to many pages to catch up on. We are off to the museum tomorrow...and early bday pressie. The Titanic exhibit has come and I've been dying to see it! Then we're out to dinner...the kiddos are staying with "grandma".

Hope you all have a great weekend!

you may have to request the 2 threads to be merged - i did post it in the bit in groups but it hasnt been done.

Morning ladies

Vicks, you're totally not the only one - I had a great routine day with Finn on Thurs but since then we've been unable to get him to stick to it. He has random wakeful periods at all times of day or night where we have no choice but to entertain him and distract him from crying until he finally falls asleep! I think you can *try* a routine at the moment but don't get too hung up on it... they're still so young that it might not work but if it doesn't work it doesn't really matter. The important thing is to try (hard as it is) to stay relaxed and take each day as it comes, I think :hugs:

10thSept, welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We missed you
Sorry to hear you're having weight gain worries. What do the health visitor/baby clinic say, are they concerned? I second what Babs says though, if you think you need to top her up with some formula don't feel bad. I know a couple of the girls from my NCT group are starting on a formula bottle at night to help out with feeding and sleep problems. There's so much pressure to breastfeed exclusively, but sometimes it's not the best option. Alternatively, if you've just got on top of the BF issues then maybe your LO just needs a little more time - again, one of the girls from my NCT group had issues with her little man to start with and now that he's 6 weeks he's finally started to get the hang of the whole putting on weight thing, it just took him a while :hugs:

Hi Babiiblu!!!!!

And hi to everyone else :)

Hello my lovelies....

I second what FG has just said.... our babies are still so young at the mo. I think its near on impossible to get a ridged routine working for us at the minuet. I think as long as you've kind of got a goal in site, and you kind of know what you want to achieve, and you kind of know how to go about it then thats a bonus!!!!!! For me i'm looking at this time to figure out my LO...what he likes, dislikes...figure out what kind of a routine i like that works for us... figure out which of the many baby 'experts' say the right things, then taylor that to suite my individual case. If by 4 months i've set the foundations then i will be happy!!!

Hi 10th - nice to have you back!!!!!!

hey everyone. i'm feeling much more like myself today. had a really goo sleep as hubby settled finley after his last feed last night and bless him he slept till 3! hubby had to wake me i was sooo tired! i did feel awful because of this though!
Finley is sleeping really well but doesn't always do a burp after a feed. he often farts once put down and he's just done a burp all by himself! amazing. anyone else find this? he also has hiccups after every feed and during naps is it usual fo it to happen so often. he sleeps through them so i know they dont disturb him. he was very hiccupy when i was carrying him.

love to all. have best fgriends visiting today so looking forward to that.
x
