Should I be worried? 7.5 mo barely eating solids

We tried introducing them at 4 months, baby didn't take to them until a week after hitting 6 months and getting 2 teeth. Even on the "best" day for solid intake, baby'll still take at most 1/4 an ounce of puree at a time or a bite or two of finger food. For over a week, kiddo had refused to take even a bite- it sort of seemed better on thursday, but it's still not much each day.

I'm trying to be calm and patient and remember that my baby will develop and eat when ready- but I can't help but be kind of freaked out when I hear about younger babies eating way more. :(

Try not to worry. Actually, I find the more you stress about it, the more stressful mealtimes become and they less they eat. Also, babies tend to go through spells when they won't eat anything just before a big jump when they suddenly learn to eat all sorts of new things they wouldn't before. It's just part of the process.

We never did purees, but I found my daughter didn't seem to eat much at all until about 9 months. She'd try everything, but a lot of it fell back out rather than going down. She obviously was eating because it would come out the other end in her nappies. But it just didn't seem like it most days. It's all about learning though and 7.5 months is still so young. Give it some time and make sure she gets plenty of milk as well.

Most of my friends babies eat WAY more than mine, but my daughter is much more adventurous and will try things their babies won't. In the long run, that's more important, I think. So I try not to get hung up on the quantities. It's quality that matters much more.

Naomi didn't take to eating until about 9 or 10 months. She still isn't too keen on it and she is approaching 13 months.

Is she BFd? If not- are you just continuing formula instead of introducing milk? That's one reason I'm worried about LO not getting keen on solids soon. :/

Dd2 basically refused to eat more than a bite or two of solids until she was around 7ish months old then she started eating more. At 10 months she has her days when she pretty much just drinks milk as has little interest in anything else but in general she pretty much eats anything on most days. :) Your lo will get there in his or her own time. Have you tried a baby cereal, perhaps? I started with pureed carrots then tried a fruit flavored cereal and she liked that better. It helped transition to veggies and such better as she was more willing to eat it and got used to the whole idea. Good luck!

Quite simply, no you shouldn't be worried. Your baby shouldn't be decreasing her formula intake at all for a long time yet so put that out of your mind. Solids at this point are just for fun, for LO to learn the skills of eating so let her go at her own pace. You absolutely should not be aiming to replace milk with solids (and don't replace formula with cow's milk either, although you can use it on cereal and in cooking etc). If you had to choose between only solids or only formula, formula would be the only good choice.

She is still bf. She also has milk too. The doctor has just told me keep offering solids before bf'ing and one day she will get it.

In your case though you can bf or give formula before trying solids since your lo isn't 13 months like mine.

We weren't planning to, our child is only 7 months old. The concern is what happens in 5 months when it WOULD be safe to switch to goat's milk, if kiddo is still not eating enough solids to make weaning off baby milk safe.

Formula is hugely expensive, and due to our circumstances, if kiddo isn't fully off of baby milk by 15-16 months, it will be a very big problem.
