I'm sorry if this comes out as a bit of a ramble, but I'm just so confused at the moment...
When Morgan was really little, she never was one to nap much during the day, and when she did, it was only because I held her and rocked her until she finally fell asleep, or because she fell asleep after her bottle.
Then the last few weeks, she's been having a couple of good naps during the day (1-1.5 hrs a time) one in morning, one in afternoon, and would show signs of being tired (yawning, rubbing her eyes, getting a bit grizzly) so I could tell easily that she was tired and so would put her down in her pram and she would fall asleep straightaway.
She had been feeding a good 6-7oz each bottle, five times a day. She would fall asleep in the evening about 7-8pm and I would change her and feed her about 11pm (more often than not she would hardly wake up) and then go to bed and she would sleep right through til 7.30am ish...
Ok... so now the bit I'm concerned about...
After a good night's sleep last Thursday night, Morgan did nothing but sleep pretty much all day on Friday, only really waking to feed and then only having 3-4oz a time (except for her last night-time bottle when she would still have the full 7oz). She still then slept right through on Friday night til 8am!? I figured she was probably just feeling a bit under the weather, so wasn't too worried.
Saturday, we were out and about a bit during the day and had some friends over on the evening... you could see she was sooooooo tired all day, again rubbing her eyes, yawning, grizzling, but she kept fighting sleep and only cat-napped a few times (I think she was scared of missing something!) and I think had we been at home, she would've slept all day again. And again she slept through til 7.30am!
Sunday, we went to visit my mum and brother at lunchtime (40 mile drive away) and she slept and slept and slept... she last fell asleep about 4.30pm after a bottle (still only having 3-4oz each bottle during the day) and stayed asleep until just before 10pm!! I changed her and fed her (had 6oz) and went to bed and again... she slept right through til 7am!
Yesterday was pretty much the same... loads of sleep and not drinking much milk at all during the day, but having her 6-7oz on the night and slept through til 6.30am this morning.
So now I'm starting to get a bit concerned that she is sleeping so much (and when she is awake, she still seems tired!!) and not having anywhere near as much milk as she was up til last week and really as much as she should be having?
I decided to write a little diary today of what she drinks and when she sleeps and this is today so far:
6.30am - Woke up.
6.45am - Got up, washed and changed.
7.00am - Drank 3.5 oz of milk.
7.15am - Sat in chair watching the GMTV (she loves watching the news!!!) while I got washed and dressed (but she still was dopey and half asleep!)
8.00am - POO! Changed! Sat and had a cuddle with Daddy before work... still seems sleepy!
8.30am - Took Daddy to work and fell asleep in the car.
9.00am - Got home - Morgan still asleep!
10.00am - Woke up and then sat in chair in kitchen while I washed up (she normally gets all giggly when I do this as I dance around to the radio - today, she just sat there looking sleepy and not really that interested?!)
10.45am - Changed nappy - still not properly awake?
11.00am - Grizzly, so got her bottle, but she only had 2oz, the POO! So changed again?!
11.15am - Fell asleep again!
12.30pm - Woke up grizzly so had another 2oz of milk.
12.40pm - Fell asleep again!
1.00pm - Woke up and I tried her in her chair with some toys - but so wasn't interested...
1.30pm - Fell asleep AGAIN!
She's still snoring now!!
So it's 8 hours sice she got up this morning, and in that time she's been asleep for 4 hours and only had about 8oz of milk?
She hasn't got a temp or anything. No sign of a rash. She's not floppy so I know it can't be anything sinister, but surely it can't be right that she's been like this for 5 days now?
Do you think I should ring the HV or GP about it?
(Sorry for the long ramble, but I had to type it all out to help me try and make sense of it myself!! Thanks for reading!)
