Signs of 4 month growth spurt/nightmare?

LOL I have become superstitious like that too! When ever my OH says "look how well Dom is sleeping tonight" you can betcha he wakes just then. So I forbade OH to mention how either of the boys are sleeping! :haha:

Also: :hugs: all round from me too!

Gosh, fussy fussy feeding here. Think it's teething. She'll only have 4oz max and then just keeps putting her fingers in her mouth and pressing on her gums. Have tried Ashtons and Parsons, Dentinox gel, Anbesol and Teetha crystals but nothing seems to soothe her. Any ideas? She seems unhappy :-(

Well, Quinn woke up 5 times last night and only actually fed once! What the hell was that about?!

We're still struggling here too. Definitely teething as well as the 4 month regression in my opinion.

Night times are still worse, every two hours or less at night and she's sooo restless too. I read someone else's thread earlier about leaving LO (at 2 months though) when he/she started to stir at night and apparently that LO is re-settling without intervention. I'm kind of tempted to leave Francesca when she does her wriggling/huffing every 2 hours, but I don't want her to wake up too much so I pick her up and feed her for 10 mins or so!

I still think putting her in her own room might help, but I can't bring myself to do that either 'cos of the hassle of getting up and down so often!

I thought this too and left Quinn last night (after waking up an hour after a feed) to wriggle and natter to herself but she ended up waking herself up completely and then started crying.
Grrr took me another hour to settle her.

I admit I'm having a cry here. She won't eat or sleep. Is clearly tired so won't play with anything and gets OT. Dh goes off to work away tomorrow for 4 days and dreading it. Got constant wind problems too. If I can't put her down I won't be able to eat or do anything at all. I hate feeling like this but have no patience at all :-(

huge hugs to you :hugs: its so hard I know. I'm currently battling with LO to get her feeding, I cannot understand why if she's hungry she comes off the boob constantly and screams. If sit her up or put her on my shoulder for a bit then put her back on the boob she feeds for a few seconds like she's ravenous and then comes off screaming again. Sooooooo frustrated. Especially when she's in full tantrum mode a grabs my nipple twisting/yanking it as hard as she can!!

With regards the wind problem, I find laying LO across my lap so her belly rests on my thigh helps. Its a lot easier too, no arching of the back, not so much wriggling/going stiff as a board either.

I know what you mean about your OH going away. I've had the same thing twice in the past month, though only for 2 nights each. It wasn't as hard as I'd imagined, I made sure to get out so that I wasn't spending all day AND night alone stuck in the house.

Just remember... its only a phase :) :hugs:

I'm having the same feeding problems. She'll suck for a while then look up at me and scream, I'll bounce her, then she'll feed again.
Repeat a million times!

Screaming during feeding lots here too. My friend reckons its teething cause hurts their gums??? Her LO did it lots then cut her bottom two teeth at 11 weeks!

It isn't reflux then? I know I suggest that a lot but both my boys have it and they too screamed during and after feeds. Actually for a while Dom did nothing BUT scream when he was awake. Since they are or ranitidine this has stopped completely. I know it is rarer with BF babies but it does still happen I think?

I thought LO had reflux a while ago because she was sick ALL the time after feeds, now it seems to be screaming or crying from frustration.

I've thought about teething (she has an amber anklet) but she seems ok other than feeding times.

Then theres the strange refusal of food during the night...

Hm but reflux can be silent you know. Which means that there is no throwing up, not that there isn't screaming lol. My boys are ff so I cannot really advise about feeding but usually my boys drink up to 210ml in a bottle yet even though they insist on waking me for a feed at around 4:30am they almost never drink more than 100ml and that is with me insisting. Sebastian sometimes refuses to drink at all. So I wonder if that waking is just habit? Could this be so with your LO too? Not sure how you'd wean her off it though. We are trying to reduce the amount of milk they get then to make it less appealing to wake then. On the other hand Dominic wakes every hour til 4:30 so I dunno...

I think my LO does suffer a bit from silent reflux yes, but that's been the case since she was born. I don't think it would be causing this behaviour now to be honest.

That said, she has been sicking up a bit more since a week or so ago.

I do think it's partly to do with teething though. I have the Nelson's Teetha powders and I quite often will give her a sachet of this when she starts yelling during feeding and a few minutes later she can be smiling and laughing again!

I need to get that amber anklet back on her. I'm just not too keen on the way it looks, but hopefully it'll make a difference.

Ahh last night was quite a good night.

Got Quinn to sleep at 7.30pm, she woke for a feed at 9.30 and went straight back to sleep.
Then woke at 11, 1 and 4 for feeds but went straight back to sleep again.
Only time she needed help was at 5am but thankfully that only took 10 minutes of rocking.
Then she was up at 7am

I feel refreshed and in a good mood :)

Well, that'll teach me for bragging!

Last night LO woke up EVERY HOUR and took forever to go back to sleep.
I knew it was too good to be true because we had an amazing day - she was all smiley and happy and had 4.5 hours of naps!
Then bedtime came and she screamed while getting changed, screamed while trying to feed and screamed while I was rocking her!
:(

Oh well, tonight WILL be better!

Last night was a nightmare for us too. No screaming, but she just wouldn't settle properly. She was fidgeting pretty much constantly which meant I got very little sleep. I'm still really unsure if putting her in her own room might be better. I keep thinking that I wouldn't stir so much and she may not be disturbed so much either. I wonder if I pick her up for a feed when in reality she doesn't actually need it.

Still not sure though. I dread the idea and if she does want those feeds could I be causing myself more problems by her waking up more for the feeds in the first place. Such a hard decision :(

I don't want to jinx things but we seem back to normal here,

For the last few nights LO has been going down about 8/8:30, sleepping until 1/3am, up for a quick feed then back down till 7/8am

He's in his own room and I do hear him stir through the night but he does settle himself back down, I found tucking him in with a cellular blanket onto of his grobag made him feel more secure and he's sleeping much better.

Well rested mama here, I just hope it continues! :)

I've tried leaving her to wriggle and whinge to herself to see if she'll go back to sleep but ti never works. And I never know whether I'm disturbing her to feed her because I never wait until she cries, just when she's moaning slightly.

Today she's in a bad mood because she didnt sleep. All she's done is whine, refused 2 feeds and had a half hour nap!

Hi ladies, well i dont want too jinx things either but past 3 nights things have settled wuth my LO too, first 2 nights she slept 8-6 with one feed at 2am then last night slept 8-6 with no feed! Eeeeekkk! However the last time she did this the following 5 nights were a nightmare so im bracing myself for tonight! All i did was get her back into a strict 3 hour feeding/nap routine which she had in her early days and it seems too be working, gaaahhh i shouldnt have said that! Fingers crossed that everyones LO's are back too sleeping well again asap xx

well we've hit 17 weeks old today which is apparently the "stormy" part of the regression period. I hope things start to improve soon.

Just need to decide on what to do at night with her...
